2011 Mondeo Cambelt Change And Now Ecu Gremlins!

Featured Replies

i people,

I know I'm new to this but I cant trust the local garages as they have flatly said there is no problem despite what I'm about to say.

2011 Mondeo Titanium 2.0TDCI, 123K.

Car was beautifully smooth, no noises/wines anything of concern and no faults on the old diagnostics!!

Due to mileage I've had the timing belt, tensioners, waterpump all replaced.

Starts, runs nothing untoward.

As i drive it home, bong, traction control light illuminates followed seconds later by engine fault displayed on screen, car then feels a bit limp.

As i continue home i then see the rev counter appear to freeze then drop to off position before coming back to life, this repeats the journey home and as the needle drops the car feels jerky.

I get car home and safe, when i stop car and start again, no warnings, only when drive away and all the above repeats. I give up, leave over night and return in the morning. I drive it back to the workshops and all the same issues reoccur, workshop too busy to look at so left with them.

That afternoon, they call, car is running fine, there were faults, cleared them down and apparently not re-occuring. I collect car and sure, it drives absolutely fine, no warnings, no jerkyness, nothing untoward at all..........and then i reach the mortorway, as i accelerate harder than normal, bong, traction control light on, rev counter playing up, jerky and under powered. I ease off and cruise at 50, traction control light goes off but engine malfunction is still visible.

Stop on hard shoulder, engine off, then on again, all lights clear, car drives fine again.......unless i accelerate hard and the above repeats.

SO day 1, car has all lights up regardless of how slowly and smoothly i drive, day 2, only having problems when accelerating quickly.

Garage, says nothing wrong with car!

I've come away and had the car scanned myself using an Autel tool,

Has the following faults,

U0401.68-48 Invalid Data Recieved From ECM (electronic Control Module/PCM (Powertrain Control Module)

U0401.68-2A Invalid Data Recieved From ECM (electronic Control Module/PCM (Powertrain Control Module)

P0341.86-2E CMP (Camshaft position) Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1 or single sensor)

Driving me insane, garage say to replace PCM......lots of money.

Spoken to independant places, they suggest its just bad timing, never had a problem wth car but I have cambelt change and suddenly have this bad luck as there is no reason why any elecronic items would have been messed with as cambelt is mechanical!!!!

Loved the car until this, still do, just cant accelerate swiftly with fear of ligthing the dashboard up with warnings.

Anyone suffered similar issues or can advise what to do next????

I'm pulling my last bits of hair out here and desperate!!!!!

Thanks in advance, John
