hi everyone ,

ive had my mondeo st220 10 days and its not going so good :( the gear selector cable broke after 2 days ! and now the engine is running like a dog . it seems to have power when i boot it,but tick over its trying to stall and feels like its missing . fault codes suggest running rich and lean so is this going to be 02 sensor probs ? please help chaps

Hi retrobasshead, what faults codes are you getting to suggest its running lean, (i have a 3.0ghia x has the same engine as st220,) i am currently waiting to have a new breather hose fitted as I have codes po171&po174, which means its running lean on both banks,these breather pipes need changing about every 10years as they eventually split, the bigger the split the worse it runs,my cars running fine at the mo,but even a very very small hole(pinprick)

will throw these codes,let us know how you get on fella.

thanks for the input v6 lover, it had code p0174 & p1131 & p1151 so the car went in garage and a split hose was diagnosed,the codes were cleared and the car has been great f0r 70 miles now the engine light is back on :( codes now are p0174 again and p0300 ! guess i will have to check more pipes and 02 sensor connections myself .

02 sensors are pretty robust,did he replace split hose (ford part needs ordering),I've known of a heatshield eating its way through the 02 sensor wire!
