2012 2.2 Mondeo Txs 200Bhp Egr Valve

Featured Replies

Ive noticed now and then that my car is giving of some grey smoke and seems to flat spot on occasion when accelerating. After reading up on here and on internet I'm thinking it might be the EGR valve needing cleaned out.

The car has only done 20k miles but due to its age, where it came from, who its previous owner was, i think its safe enough to make an educated guess (whilst trying not to stereo type) that it was driven very gently, which if I'm guessing correctly that it was, is it more likely to help clog things up?

Also at low revs, 1000-2000 in getting a slight whistling noise that goes away as you accelerate further, is this normal or could it be the boost pipe?

What are folks opinions is it worth giving it the EGR a clean out, and also where is it on the 2.2?

Just looking for opinions/advice on whether its worth doing before I start taking bits to pieces.

J.

''Gentle'' driving won't help the E.G.R.V. or C.D.P.F. / D.P.F. - pop the engine cover off & you can't miss the E.G.R.V. by looking where the tube from the intercooler terminates at the top. Front of engine & slightly offset to the right.

Whistling noise is often a split intercooler - E.G.R.V. tube / pipe.
