2002 Mondeo Tdci Flashing Coil And Other Problems

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I brought a 2002 mondeo 2.0ltr tdci a few months back and have had nothing but problems. Latest of them happened about 8 weeks ago and I'm yet to solve it. On the way to work I had a sudden loss of power followed by a flashing coil on the dash. Having looked around this could be alot of things. Had a look as I'm no mechanic but am fairly handy with a spanner. Found the boost pipe from the egr to the intercooler was split and split bad so I have changed this. Thought that would be the end of my problems but no. Took it to 2 different garages to get the fault codes read but they could get the car to communicate so no good. Phoned the aa who also couldn't get it to connect and read the codes so now I'm stuck. Where do I go from here? How can I get the fault codes read? Can I change the plug where you connect to the machine or will this make no difference? Car is still use able but is frustrating to drive as it is really down on power. Will get up to motorway speeds but is slow getting there. Sounds rough but drives smooth. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the E.G.R.V. to me.

Egr is blanked off should have added that really.

It's not that then !

Injectors ? Fuel filter ? M.A.F. sensor ?

Fuel filter could be worth changing. Put a new air filter in it and have tried disconnecting the air flow sensor don't know if this would solve it but it didn't. Have read it could be injectors but how could I find out if I can't get it on the diagnostics test? Keep reading about a leak off test but don't know what this involves

There should be a noticeable difference in running with M.A.F. sensor disconnected, I would replace that & fuel filter & see what happens then.
