No the power isn't bad for a 1.6, and with the modern VNT turbo you get a lot of low down grunt as well. It's the potential faults and MPG that have put me off the 1.6 (which I own lol). So many potential faults with that engine and all are expensive to fix. Plus it's not any more economical than bigger/faster cars I've had previously. I'd go for the 2.0 if I bought another, but remember it still has a DPF.

Estate definitely makes more sense with a large dog though!

I don't think I'll go back to petrol in a hurry though, I to used low/mid grunt, more mpg and cheaper tax of diesels, I know there's more engine faults with diesels than petrols but I'll take the chance.

I do like the hatch it's just for reasons above I prefer estates

I had quick look at the c max......don't know if I like it, it's a focus but doesn't look like it, more a people carrier (or mpv if that's right), I prefer estates
