Mk3 2ltr Petrol Going Flat

Featured Replies

i currently have a problem with my mk3 2001 mondeo 2litre. if i drive it down the road (i wont get more than 50yrds) it goes flat with no throttle response and sounding and feeling like it has no fuel (theres half a tank) i turn the vehicle off and let it idle and i can rev the nuts off it no problems. but the minute the vehicle is in motion it dies on me. it has had a full service 3 months ago and been ok since.

it has had the following changed;

coil pack

and everything on a major service,

it has also had the full tank off and the inner filter cleaned and checked and all pipes have been checked for blockages.

any ideas would be great and this cars last chance before it reluctantly goes to the scrap yard (annoyingly its just passed mot and has a 12 month ticket on it)

I'm no expert so sorry if you look at this reply and scoff with disappointment.

First thing that springs to my mind, Manual or Automatic Transmission? Checked the Gear oil?

Any EML lights present? Also if you have a EML327, have you been able to read off any fault codes?

Have you tried removing the air hose on the Intake Manifold to see if it changes anything? Have you had the swirl flaps removed/checked for corrosion?

I take it you had your fuel pressure checked when you had the filter done so i'd ignore that.

When the coil pack was replaced were you able to check that you were getting a decent spark? e.g. HT leads / plugs themselves.
