Ford Focus Titanium 2015

Featured Replies

Hoping for a little help; after 6 weeks in a petrol focus and an awful lot of customer service errors the garage changed my car for the above focus. It's a 15 plate so 6 months old, ex demo and has the appearance pack (I believe is the tinted windows)

I'm clearly paying a bit more for it than the petrol (£15,150 vs the £12,950 petrol) which was a 64 plate eco boost navigator.

Anyhow I've noticed a couple of things that I'm unclear on..... It has auto headlamps and yet the auto high beam feature appears to be not working or is missing? - on the steering wheel computer I go to settings and where lighting is the auto high beam is not listed. (And it doesn't work on a test at night unlit road etc....)

It also has ambient lighting but the overhead console is missing the controls for changing the colour.... Again on the computer I can turn this feature off and on but I thought if I have ambient I can also control the colour etc....

And I also came across a thing about the car having a parking camera as standard on the titanium? I've got auto parking and sensors back and front but no camera? Is this right??

Really hoping someone is out there who is an expert on the titanium and can offer some advice? I'm really not keen on complaining (yet again) but it feel that since I am paying for all this I should have it!? And I'd like to go in armed with the correct info -and not end up looking like a tit! :)

The car also has press button start (but oddly not keyless entry-odd I thought as the fiesta has this!) and cruise control and rain sensitive wipers. (All of which work fine....)

Thanks for reading :)

New to ford but loving the car despite all the issues so far!!

Leanne

Hi,

Just out of interest what were the issues with the ecoboost you had?

To answer your questions on your current vehicle;

Auto lights does not give you auto main beam - autolights just manages the headlights.

Titanium - ambient lighting, yes the titanium does get the ambient lighting but not colour changing this is titanium x only.

Rear parking camera is an option

Keyless entry is different to push button start, your car as standard with Titanium just has push button start not keyless option upgrade unfortunately.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, we're you sold this car on the understanding it had all of these?

Auto lights don't include auto high beam, just the automatic on or off function.

Not sure on the ambient lighting.

I believe the rear camera is an option, not standard.

Titanium doesn't come with keyless entry as standard IIRC, push button start is different.

Ford Man beat me to it!

Thanks guys. In answer to your question Ross; it was mainly my error in being persuaded that a petrol would give a decent mpg - I should know better but was seduced by the 'eco boost' and the sales patter!! Got no where near the promised 45-50mpg -even with some serious Eco driving I was on 37! Also had no ooomph to it (was a 1l of course). But mostly it was just really really awful after sales that gave me an 'in' to get them to allow a change of car.

I'm sure there was mention of the ambient being changable but not too fussed tbh. I'd read about the auto high beam and assumed if you had auto lights why wouldn't you get the auto beam to go with it! It would be incredibly handy! And again I'd read somewhere that the camera came as standard. But clearly I was wrong on all counts!

Dint suppose anyone knows if the high beam can be added at all. I do seem to have a large array of windscreen tech - is it add able?

Thanks so much for the replies :)

Not sure about the addition post factory.

My last few cars have had auto lights but no auto main beam so being use to it never really thought of it but I'm sure someone will be along soon to let you know either way

Auto high beam is part of the driver assist pack.

You'd need a new windscreen, the sensors, shrouding, goodness knows what other hardware and for it to all be programmed in and calibrated.

Basically it can't be retrofitted, lol.

I have the driver assist pack but not the appearance pack on my Titanium, there seems to be a few different packs for them, so its just a case of looking around for one with the spec that you want.

At the time i bought mine i wasn't aware of all the different packs but all in all i am quite happy with mine although i would have liked the appearance pack on mine, but never mind.

I seem to have the auto dim rear view mirror? I'm not sure it works -not tested it yet - but it's got the dot that the sensor would work from - or is this there regardless???

What pack is that part of......?

& talking of the driver assist pack - what's actually in that? (Sorry I can probably Google that but last time I did that it told me rear camera was standard!!!)

Thanks b

Type your reg' into www.etis.ford.com to see what spec your vehicle left the factory fitted with :)

Auto dimming mirror is standard on Titanium.

Only works at night when headlights are shining through your rear windscreen. Make sure you don't put anything behind the mirror as there are light sensors on the front and back.

Driver assist pack includes lane keeping alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping aid, traffic sign recognition, auto high beam, Driver alert and active city stop (if not already fitted)

Thanks mark - I've done that and it answered some questions but not others.....

Can't see auto high beam on the list (less or with...) but 'automatic headlight control' is listed.

As is - 'with mechanical parking brake' is this different to the handbrake?

#confused!!

Mechanical parking brake differentiates between a '' normal '' handbrake & an electronic one & you definitely do not want the electronic version !

As for auto lights - look at your lighting switch - there should be '' off '' & '' sidelights '' & '' dip beam '' positions - if it has auto there will be a 4th position ( far right turn )

Mechanical parking brake is the handbrake. Auto headlight control is the normal auto lights.

Auto high beam appears on etis as: "With Auto High Lamp Headlamp"

If you have driver assistance pack you will have this set of sensors, which enables the car to "see" and operate auto high beam.

Thanks for that. The reason for the questions is that I seem to have 'some' of the driver assist pack!! Auto high beam is not mentioned on the less or with list. Auto headlamps / lights is mentioned as 'with' twice!! Everything else makes sense...... I don't mind either way, but if it should be there I'd like it working 😀

And yes I do seem to have that set of sensors- just not the options on the computer to turn off and on......., and they don't work.

What sensors would be there without auto high headlamp but with rain sensors and auto lights? Is it the same ??

This is the standard windscreen sensor which includes just the rain sensor and active city stop (where fitted).

This is my windscreen....... it shows 3 triangles ...... 😏

Is three triangles to do with the auto lights?

Sorry to be a bore - I'm just now dead curious and determined to get to the bottom of it!

Thats what i have and i have the auto main beam.

That is part of driver assist pack so you should have auto high beam.

As long as you have the auto setting for the lights selected on the light dial the auto main beam should work.

It doesn't work no matter what I have the lights on - auto or just on. Tested it on a very dark back road and no joy. Also as I said the option on the computer is not there - according to my manual it's under settings and lights and it's not there - I believe you can turn it off? Which us why I looked it up, in case it had been turned off.

BUT it's also not on the etis list as either 'less' or 'with' ...... It's just so confusing and it turns out that I'm the type of person who if it's not meant to be there then I'm fine with that - but if I should have it then !

Thanks for taking the time to reply

I believe that auto high beam means that you need to have the high beams on first and then the sensors will pick up oncoming headlights and switch to dipped lights until clear and then put the high beams back on.

Is that what you find Mike? I may have to pop out and try it! ...... Or it may wait till I'm actually out tomorrow!

Just checked and even with auto lights switched to on there is still no headlamp auto high beam option on the computer under settings.... Got very excited there for a moment :) lol
