Can Anybody Help Me Please?

Featured Replies

I recently purchased a 2002 Ford Fiesta LX TDCI 1.4 and when I got home I lifted the bonnet and noticed a wire with a connector on it and above pretty much on the engine was the socket for the wire I put it in and now I'm getting a flashing message saying EAC fail please help :(

unplug it see what happens

yeah i unplugged it and it's still doing it

try disconnecting the battery for 30 mins to reset it but make sure you have the radio code

ok i'll do that now and get back to you

ok

Electronic Accelerator Control .... Clean the throttle body carefully.

Once done, reconnect the wire and see if it clears.

what shall i clean it with?

petrol or diesel 1.4? , your original post says tdci

oooh i have some electric componant cleaner at hand igivit a shot

what shall i clean it with?

you can clean it using carb cleaner or brake cleaner, disconnect the down pipe from the body and you'll see the butterfly valve, spray it with the cleaner and very gently wipe it clean. You can carefully open the butterfly valve to spray down the Venturi and clean the underside of the butterfly valve. Once done apply a small spray of WD40 on the butterfly valve pin at either side. Reconnect the hose and reconnect the wire.

If cleaning the body doesn't work get ready to have to buy a new throttle body using an 'arm and a leg'!

Edited to add, just seen the fact it's a TDCI, if so disregard cleaning the throttle body as it won't have one! DOH! (Teach me to fully check the post and posters details!)

ha ha, you all jumped on the throttle body fix, it may be a petrol version, waiting for confirmation on fuel type.
