2000 1.8 Petrol Battery Cut Out

My mate has a 1.8 petrol mondeo and his battery light keeps coming on and the car sometimes won't start and will sometimes cut out. He fixes this by wiggling the battery lead and it works fine. Took it to the garage and they changed the starter motor. Problem keeps happening though. Anyone have any thoughts what else it could be?

    Probable loose connections at one or both battery terminals / body earth / dodgy cable
