bri4life
HI guys I hope someone can advise me with a problem Last year I had a leak (coloured dye put into system to show leak) which was fixed but today when I checked coolant level there was none. Only thing I can think of is that one of the injectors is leaking diesel onto the engine and could be over heating and could cause the coolant to evaporate, is that possible? There's no visible signs of water leaking? Anyone have any ideas? Cheers Brian
TomsFocus
You should notice if it's overheating, I assume the dash gauge doesn't show a high temperature? And there's been no steam from under the bonnet at all? Where was the leak last time, or what was fixed/replaced? Might be the same fault returned. If there definitely isn't an external leak, it could be the EGR cooler leaking coolant into the exhaust. Only other possible internal leak would be headgasket but I'd be very surprised if it is that. bri4life
The temp gets to just below 1/2 on the gauge and there has been no steam. The leak was on a hose at the rear of the engine, I have checked that and it's dry. Will be taking the car to the garage who fixed it get it double checked. Do you think hooking it up to a computer show the fault? One question after I filled the water tank I noticed water coming out from under the tank. Is there an overflow on the tank? dezwez
top up coolant and see if it goes down half way seems to be right on the gauge
TomsFocus
Ok well it sounds like it's not overheating and not the previous fault returned. There shouldn't be any leaks under the tank though. Just a relief valve in the cap, sounds like there may be a crack in the tank itself.
