Roof mounted glasses holder

Featured Replies

Has anyone retrofitted a centre roof mounted glasses holder like those found in focus mk3 and mondeo?

Im looking at fitting one to my mk2.5 but want to make sure it will fit before i buy and cut up the headliner. Getting fed up searching for my curved style sunglasses in door pocket as they wont fit in the door handle glasses holder.

Brought the glasses holder from a mondeo on ebay. Want to double check it is going to fit before i cut up my headliner.

Someone must have done this mod to a mk2.5 focus? All i can find on internet at mo is a fiesta.

looks like you might have to be the 1st to do it - make a guide and take plenty of pics!

dont you have glasses case above drivers door ?

I bought a Mk3 Mondeo one off of Ebay and fitted it to my '08 focus estate. Just need to be careful when cutting the roof liner, start small and enlarge the hole until it fits. You also need to taper the edge at the rear of the new hole so that the 2 parts clip together.

And before anyone asks, no i didn't take any photos of the fitting process. (total focus on NOT wrecking the roof liner. Nothing else mattered).

you get a glasses holder that fits I place of the grab handle above driver pass door simply screws in no need to cut the roof liner to bits

From reading the original post I believe that David states that he already has the holder that replaces the grab handle but it is not suitable for his needs.

Just to help with proper guidance, which one is it you are looking at?-

It seems i may be the first to try this mod in a focus so will do a guide to help others if it helps.

Ive got the mondeo one on order as in "B" picture. Reading up about it fitted to a fiesta, the black plastic part that goes above the glasses part is a must to hold it all together so i have that part on order too.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but could I retro fit the sunglasses holder above the drivers door to my zetec focus where the grab handle should be? Just interested to know if this is possible. Thanks.

I've got a glasses holder above the drivers door but being wraparounds they don't fit properly either.  However the cubby hole behind the gearstick under the heated window switches is the ideal size!

should be possible just measure the gap between the bolts and the gap on the glasses holder.its something people used to do on escorts so shiould be ok

ok, thanks for this I might look into it, heres hoping for some good weather in spring :)

Fitting the grab handle holder is easy if you already have the handle in place, just unscrew the handle and swap for the holder.

If you only have the blanking plugs there then you will most likely need the corresponding rear bolt plates or else you'll have nothing to bolt in to (and no bolts).

Fitted this the other day and still needs work to fit correctly.

Came across a wire taped up in the headlining - black/orange single wire. Wondered what it was for? Ambient lighting perhaps?

Just to help others.. This wire I found was for ambient lighting.

I drilled a couple of holes in my existing light unit and put some 3mm 12v leds in and now i have ambient lighting! At moment I used white led but tempting to put red or blue in, will see how it goes when I do a bit of night driving.

Hi, i’ve come here as i cannot find the answer anywhere else.  I have a Focus MK3 2011 that does not have a sunglasses compartment, does anyone here know if I bought a used one would it fit?

Many thanks in advance

Here's an alternative, seconds to fit onto door card, £2 off Ebay LOL
