joe4062
Hi, I just purchased a Mondeo but in the past week the car has developed a strange fault. It has the keyless start system but both keys stopping unlocking and locking the car so I need to use the little metal key to get in now. The car also doesn't recognize the key(s) unless I place them close to the steering wheel. When the car is first started, it also comes up with 'alarm service required' - I did a search on this before posting and found numerous posts where people get this issue along with wipers and the alarm getting stuck on. Mine isn't doing any of those things. It also comes up 'alarm triggered' and 'key not detected' at times. Ford are looking at the car but they are saying the only fault coming up at the moment is that the remote frequency is staying open. Just wondered if anyone has had this problem before as I don't want to pay them hours in labour if I get an idea what it might be. Thanks
Stoney871
Keyless entry and ignition requires battery power from the key to be recognised. Have you tried changing the batteries?
joe4062
Thanks for the reply. I've changed batteries in both fobs, disconnected the battery on the car to try and let it reset and I've also tried reprogramming the keys to the car - nothing seems to work. pragmatix
If you bought it last week take it back to the dealers, it's still under warranty
joe4062
Private sale so no warranty unfortunately
