Hello im a newbie and I have a 01 Mondeo 2.0 Ghia x petrol I have a sound system upgrade and all lights flicker when in use I have upgraded all wiring like alternator to battery, engine to body earth's and battery to body earth these cables are 0/1 gauge I did this to my old veccy before chain went and it solved the issue there by doing this wire upgrade its come to my knowledge that my mondy has a smart charge system which charges the battery when it needs too and I think this is why I'm having flickering lights because its not charging all the time I could do with some help with advise on what I can do maybe unplug the 3pin on the alternator??? Or change it to a normal one if anyone can put me in right direction I'd be very great full.mart

    I'd go for either a failing alternator or duff battery.

    The smart charge system is brilliant when working correctly so I doubt it's the system itself causing issues.

    Make sure you have a silver calcium battery fitted & its healthy. After this check the output voltage of the alternator.

    Then start the car and cause as much electrical load as is possible (radio, AC, Fan, lights etc etc) see how the alternator copes
