Mondeo Indicator Problem

Featured Replies

Hello,

In the last week the Indicator has developed a weird problem where the Right indicator will randomly stop working. It seems like the car has to be switched off for a while then re-started for the indicator to work again, the problem is it can stay on for the full journey, or it can go off at the first junction which is really annoying and I guess not that safe.

Anyone have any similar problems? It is over it's 3year warranty but under 60k miles so I guess Ford won't help :)

sounds more like a bad switch to be honest, the microswitch in the stalk is probably the erroneous part.

Maybe a bit late and even a different problem but this worked for me. My issue was that the right indicator would randomly turn on. I can't work out how to credit this other post so I hope he doesn't mind!

I ended up following this and (touch wood) for the last couple of weeks the annoying indication has stopped :)

1, Remove both screws from under the steering colunm, lift the top cover off and drop the bottom cover.
2, Remove the two screws holding in the stalk.
3, Pull the stalk away towards the door, you will have the indicator unit in your hand.
4, On the unit is a small circuit board, held on with 2 screws, remove the screws.
5, On the other side ,of this circuit board are copper tracks and contacts.
6, Clean these contacts,
7, Put it all back together, problem sorted, 20 minutes
