Forward alert malfunction

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I am brand new to the forum and have been pointed in this direction to try and get some help with my 08 plate Mondeo Titanium X.. I've had the car just over 2 years and had a major issue with the forward alert malfunction. Just a little bit of background on the issues..

Bought the car from Sturgess Hyundai in Leicester with 52k miles on the clock and it had the forward alert malfunction on when I went for test drive and got them to sort it before buying the car and they said it was a case of resetting the error which sorted the problem for approximately 6 months. The forward alert malfunction came back so took it to my local Sandicliffe ford who did an IDS test and it came back saying " P003A turbo performance, checked and found the turbo sticking, freed off, cleared DTCs and tested all ok". I was happy until about 6 months later when the forward alert malfunction came back so took it back to ford again for diagnostic and this time they said there they needed to do a software update (Technical Service Bulletin 23/2008) which they needed to follow and maybe it will fix the issue.

I have had my service done today and also had the software update which cost me £75 ( original quote £170) which hasn't sorted the issue.. They've then come back and said they've " carried out further diagnostics, found switches on the steering wheel inop" they recommend I get a new set of switches on the left side of my steering wheel which would cost £270..

To me it seems like I am getting past from pillar to post and they're trying to fob me off and just need some further advice or know anywhere that is cheaper and wont rip me off like sandcliffe ford, but have all the same experience etc? I have contemplated just buying the buttons myself and trying to replace them myself or buying a code reader and seeing what I can find myself.
