Coolant gone from the tank

Featured Replies

Hello,

Today i discovered that the coolant tank is completely empty on my 2005 mk3 mondeo with 2.2tdci. What could be the problem? Haven't noticed any leaks under the car but it's hard to see because most of time it's parked on grass. Checked the oil stick it's over max, but there's no "slime" anywhere.

Best wishes, and keep on driving! :driving:

How long since you last checked the level? This will help tell how fast the leak is.

For head gasket leaks, best place to look for grey emulsion (slime) is inside the crankcase breather hoses & oil separator.

But check hoses, radiator, header tank (my plastic header tank did leak), front carpets (for heater leak).

Peter.

About 2 weeks(bit less) since i last checked the coolant level and it was between max and min like it was since i bought the car. I found the leak one hose has come out of its holding clips and started to rub on the serpentine belt, which made a hole into it.

Good news, with a bit of luck that is all it is.
