Mk4 hatchback and dogs

Featured Replies

Has anyone got a Mk4 hatchback with dog(s)?

We have two labrador sized dogs. Will a hatchback be OK or will the glass whack their heads when I close it and make them feel claustrophobic

I've got a Mk5 so pretty similar, why?

If there is only 2 of you in the car , the dogs will be more comfy with the back seats folded down in cages up against the front seats, this way they travel within the wheelbase of the car and get a less bouncy ride, also safer should you have an accident.

The MK4 has a huge boot - I suspect they'll be fine, or do as posted above.

The boot is cavernous, I have a Cockapoo and he looks lost in the boot. I don't have a cage for him just a duvet and I made a dog guard out of an elasticated cargo net - he doesn't chew. The anchor points are handy for attaching a lead to if you are sitting out next to the car. I've had 2 adult labs in the boot at one point and they had more than enough room to lie down or stand/sit
