Wheel wobble on mk4 mondeo

Featured Replies

Honestly, I agree with them saying 'some' wobble is acceptable on a used car, though not as much as you first had.  I've never had a car that doesn't have any wobble at all.  Gone to great lengths to have tracking and wheel balancing done.  But it's never fully cured, though apparently I'm just picky!

Problem is, the wheels are probably slightly bent/buckled from potholes and kerbs, the tyres all wear slightly differently, rubber components are starting to wear and get a little soft, the ball joints are all slightly worn.  There's no such thing as 'drives like a new car' unless you actually buy a brand new car, I really hate that expression!! I think I'm like you Tom, just picky.

I'm comparing it to my previous 7 year old focus and my 15 plate astra

Toms focus, I have to disagree with you, I've never had a car with wheel wobble and I've had a few my last 3 cars all have done over 175k and never had any wheel wobble my current Mondeo Mk4 has 165k on the clock whilst it doesn't drive like new it's not far off and that's why I haven't changed it, all still very taught on suspension and steering. Yes I have compared it to a new Mk5 and a preowned Mk4

You're just not as picky as us I reckon lol.  I've had over 30 cars now, ranging from 2 to 20 years old and 12k to 274k miles.  It would be nice to have just one without any wobble at all lol.

Oh I'm picky
