Have been viewing for a while, now joined in.

I have had 2 Mk1 Foci, a Zetec and the last one a very late model Ghia, which served well for 10 years with hardly a repair. Felt it was time for a change, and the new 3.5 facelifted Focus is the first one I have really liked the look of since the Mk1.

Went for a sortie to a dealer with a view to buying a new mid range Zetec, but saw a Titanium X in Impact blue sat on forecourt, less than a year old with a couple of thou on the clock and cheeper than a Zetec. Had a test drive and signed up, it was just what the doctor ordered.

Took a while to get used to all the toys and gadgets, bit distracting at first but now had it for almost a year now and overall a great car.

Niggles are the sync2, which has in general performed well, but I find the lack of manufacturer support and user upgrading frustrating. I feel it could be so much better with a bit of effort from Ford, also when most of the rest of the world can upgrade on line at home for free, whereas I believe we have to go to a dealer and pay £60+ for the privilege and similar for the nav updates.

On this forum it was indicated an update to the nav should have been upgraded before I bought the car. I e mailed the dealer to ask about this but didn't even get a reply. I am looking at DIY options for sync and nav, but it shouldn't have to be like that for a new ish car.

Does ApplLink work? Can't suss that either.

Like the engine but feel the gearing is a bit odd. 2nd doesn't pull away as readily as my old Mk1, it seems to bog down at low speed and the 6 speed box seems to constantly need a change, up or down, almost feel an automatic would be better.

Overall however it drives very well, especially on motorways and the look and feel is excellent with a good level of spec.

Quality generally seems to have improved since the Mk1 too.

A friend who has a fairly new Audi is impressed so it must be ok.
