GaryPL
Hello, My old man came to visit me this weekend which involves driving up to London from the west country. On his way, he stopped off at a service station. When he was accelerating up the slip road to re-enter the motorway again, he said he gave it a boot full but the revs shot up and the car didn't really go anywhere. I am pretty sure this is the clutch on its way out. He has a 2004 ST220 with 55k miles on the clock. The clutch going seems pretty premature to me, but I doubt there's anything else it can be. So my question is how much does a clutch replacement cost these days? I have done some searching but the threads where there is a price given are several years old. Thanks for the help :)
stef123
Yep does sound like a slipping clutch, be it through wear or oil/brake fluid leaking onto the friction plate. not a cheap job on the mondeo as it involves dropping the subframe. At a guess depending on the labour rate, £700 if the flywheel (dual mass)is done too. Might get away with leaving it being a petrol engine.
