Just bought 2L S max and having issues!

Featured Replies

Hi all. I have just bought my first ford. A 2007 S MAX 2.0l diesel. Test drive was fine, bought it. Drove 30 miles home but on the last mile the engine malfunction came on. I've plugged it in to diagnostics and it's coming up with air mass sensor correlation. Replaced that sensor no different. Clear the code from the car and it struggles in 2nd gear then malfunction comes on just after 2000rpm and the engine jumps into life  but then is very sluggish again....I'm stumped.

air mass sensor correlation.

First check the air intake system for leaks: All the hoses, pipes & the intercooler between the MAF and the inlet manifold. Splits & holes are usually easy to find.

Try the MAP sensor next. (But check its hose or connection to the manifold first, and the wiring plug)

Air flow is measured by the MAF, but can also be calculated from RPM, MAP (intake pressure), and IAT (Intake temperature).

These flow rates are constantly compared, and that error is the result of a mismatch.

The MAF always gets the blame, but is often falsely accused, I have found.
