fiesta tdci venting problem

I wonder if anyone can help me? I have just bought a 1.4 fiesta tdci 58 plate old shape and I am having problems filling up at the pumps, it keeps blowing back it took 45 mins to fill it up the other day, my missus is going spare

I had this problem on a diesel fiat punto the Fuel filler was too small (it was just the petrol sized filler neck for the smaller unleaded pumps moulded in red plastic instead of green). If you pushed the pump nozel all the way in it just constantly cut out and the only way to stop it was to hold the nozel just inside the filler neck not making contact. You have to be very carefull though as it is very easy to overfill and splash diesel all over the place. I never found a solution but did find that some pumps were better than others although none were perfect only pressing halfway when refuelin took a little longer but lessened the risk of spillage..

amarokuk is right but take extra car when filling a Mk7 with the EasyFuel filler - if the nozzle isn't in properly it will just spill out onto the floor.

tks, apparently there is a ventilation pipe somewhere near the tank it sometimes gets blocked, i just need to identify it.
