Hi all ive a fiesta mk5 51 plate 1.3i endure e engine. what it is i find it some times it won't go into first gear now ive got my foot fully down on the clutch but it still takes a couple of goes to go on sometimes it can be a pain when you are trying to do a turn in the road because what i have to do when it won't go in is knock it back into neutral and then try reverse again and it goes in sometimes it goes in all the time is this like a safety feature or do i have a problem cheers alan.

Sounds like this could be a dragging clutch plate (clutch not disengaging fully) or faulty gearbox synchromesh? If it's the clutch then possibly could be adjusted or maybe you need a new clutch.

I had this exact problem with my MK6,

was put down to clutch dragging at this had to be replaced.

Everything is fine now.
