Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI 2008

Featured Replies

Hi all

I'm Steve from Barnstaple. Just picked up my first Ford, a silver TDCI 1.6 DPF from 2008 (58 plate), replacing a 2000 Renault Clio 1.4 (glad to be rid)

Love it so far, fast enough, roomy and stylish, but I hear there's problems with the DPF system. Is there anything I should look for or do to stop this happening?

Hi Welcome

Third time lucky mate,

1.6TDCi ain't the favourite engine due to turbo failure caused by blocked DPF

the EGR contaminants the oil with carbon which blocks the oil feed to the turbo causing turbo to run dry and pop

Hello and welcome steve

Just use search for DPF or visit the focus section here http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/forum/2-ford-focus-club/

Welcome to the site Steve!

Welcome - another focus owner :)
