New focus - teething troubles or a dud?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I just took delivery of a 65 reg Focus Zetec 125ps. It seems to nip around quite nicely, but I have a number of gripes and one issue that I didn't spot on the test drive that is troubling me.

First, the road noise is really quite offensive at speeds over 60mph. I only drove it briefly on a dual carriageway on the test drive and didn't notice this, perhaps as I was concentrating on the road and the salesman's patter. It has continental tyres on - presumably these are originals as it has only done 10k, but would changing them make much of a difference?

Second, when I test drove it the parking assist didn't work and nor did the voice control on the sync system. They told me the park assist was a blown fuse and have reset the radio, and both those things now work. In the last week, however, the tyre pressure monitoring system is showing an error requiring I take it to the dealer, and now the lights in the centre console beneath the sync screen appear to have also given up the ghost.

Is the focus known for faulty electrics? I'm concerned that I've bought a pup. I think I have 30 days to reject the car, but I bet the dealer would argue about that!

Regardless of where you bought it from its still under manufacturers warranty so just book it into a Ford main dealer and let them sort it. Give them at least 1 attempt to fix it and then see where youre at.

Agree with above.

also these dealers forgot customers rights

if you have just purchased this from them it's still under warranty with them too.

dont take any nossence from them or anything mate get it nipped straight in the bud n show your not a pushover n they will sort it no problem.

best of luck doubt you will need it tbh should be ok

The lights under the screen going out is a known software bug, they'll update it and fix it no problem.

Take it back and it'll get sorted :)

Software bug? Thanks I'll go back and get them to do that. I was concerned something in the electrical system was causing fuses to blow.

Spoke to the garage. They had no clue about any bug. Advised me to disconnect the battery to reset the system!

That will work but there is a software update to fix it from happening again.

Stand your ground and have them fix it with a software update.

agree with alex, there is definatly a software update to fix the ilumination issue.
