EzzyRS
Seasons Greeting all, I am obviously new to this forum and like others over the past years, like Retro Car and the RS Owners Club I have found them a great source for info. My previous Fords: 1976 Mk3 Cortina 1.6 XL, 1982 Sierra 1.6 L, 1977 Fiesta 1.1 L (later coverted with a 1600 Xflow), 1988 Mk4 Escort 1.4 L, 1978 Mk2 Escort 1.3 L, 1978 Mk2 Escort Mexico, 1979 Mk2 Escort RS2000, 1979 Capri 1.6 LS. My current Ford is a 2010 Focus 1.6 (110) Zetec TDCI which I bought from a Ford dealership in July 2016. All was well until about 3 weeks ago. The in car hot air blower started working off and on, temp gauge at normal level it would blow cold, then the gauge would drop to zero and it would blow warm air. It went into the dealers for an assessment of the problem and found normal engine temperature as we drove for a while with a diagnostic device plugged in above the foot pedals, and was then booked in for 3 days later. The day before I took it in I checked the coolant level again to find it mixed with oil this time. It has been in the dealers for 8 days now. Renew oil Cooler, extensive flushing and now a change of Head Gasket, water pump, hoses and associated ancillaries. oil Cooler £400, Head Gasket, water pump, hoses and associated ancillaries £1000. The 12 month GOLD warranty I paid for is good for £500 per claim (£2,500 max over the 12 months), which doesn't cover all this work of the £1400 cost. The dealership said they will cover £200 under the circumstances, so I have £700 to stump up. I love the car and the way it drives, just a bit ***** off at the £500 at a time warranty claim Grrrrrrrrr. Hoping to get it back before new year.
