Featured Replies

I have 'courtesy wipe' turned on, but only ever saw it work once..

It worked every time on my old Mk3.

Any thoughts..?

What's a courtesy wipe?

Is your senetivity set too low maybe.

The courtesy wipe gives an initial wipe on turning on the ignition, so that the screen is clear for the sensor. Worked perfectly on my MK3 for years..

Thanks. Not a good thing if it's icy IMHO blades can tear if stuck to the screen

I thought courtesy wipe was in relation to using the screenwashers not ignition i.e. once you've used the screenwashers and the wipers have finished swiping over the windscreen, the 'courtesy wipe' then sweeps the screen a final time to clear any dribbles (after a delay of approx. 10 seconds from when the user stops using the screenwashers).

That makes more sense

Aaah, thanks, I'll check that out.

Then, I may start a new thread called "Stuff my MK3 ghia had that my MK5 titanium x doesn't"

My Thinking was like @1979Damian  I switched mine off as it just smeared the screen (the inital wipes were enough)

Your Ghia rain sensors probably detected rain straight away were as newer models only detect on driving away (my experience)
