jay1981
Just got a 2003 Fiesta 1.4 TDCI as a second car, and would like to know is the 1.4 diesel a good engine and what are the common faults with it? How often does the timing belt need changing? Cheers
InstructorPiggy
Not bad, used one for while, surprisingly nippy for 1400 diesel, good on economy. Faults we found with those engines when i was in the trade and 50% of our work was diagnostics (95% of that work was diesels!) was the injectors, and it aint cheap to replace. People putting petrol in them, not accusing you of being silly it does happen, buggers them completely due to a highly secret coating inside the fuel pump. EGRs sometimes play up, but they appear to have sorted most of that. Always remember these 1400 and 1600 engines are french, made by the Peugeot/Citroen group...so take that as you will!! if I recall the cambelts are on 100k, but I would wait to see if anyone here can confirm that!!
