fiesta mk5 heater wasnt working

Featured Replies

right guys hope somebody can help, the wife has a fiesta and the heater wasnt working,

on its last service the fitter said the heater matrix was blocked with rust/crap as there has been no antifreeze in the car.

so i removed the old heater control valve and flushed the matrix out both ways till the water ran clear alot of crap/rust came out

also flushed the whole cooling system out and cleaned the header tank bottle,

i then refilled the sytem and added antifreeze and fitted a new heater control valve from ford,

still rubbish

so when the car is running if i put the heater control onto hot and leave it switched off the pipes leading to the heater control valve get hot and also the other pipes past the heater control valve leading to the matrix get hot

as soon as i put the heater on to blow in the car the heating in the car is warm at first then goes coldddddddddddddddddddddddd

any ideas?????

thanks paul

so whats the best way of getting the air out ,ivesqueezed all the pipes and ran it till the thermostat opened up and topped the header tank back up,am i missing something

thanks paul

there should be some bleed valves on the system...look like either a screw head or a tyre valve dust cap...

remove, start engine, prepare to put back on once waterfountain begins!!!

not seen any m8 are u sure

got to be something...maybe someone online soon with a mk4/5 with the heater valve will confirm or not so for us/you/me!!!

sounds very much like air lock...when I did me mums punto matrix, was ok after I bleed it...lots of blead points...but not quite right, took me 1/2hr of water/A/F and getting engine revvs up then down, using different bleed points to force air to top!!

check the radiator too, often bleed point on one end :)
