ESP in Snow!

Featured Replies

I was stuck getting home last night - took me 6.5 hours to drive 3 miles due to total gridlock. It was obvious to me that the ESP was a bit useless in the extreme conditions here but I couldn't find any way of turning it off. Is it permanently on?

Bugger! Thanks Jonny87.

Why oh why don't they tell you its useless in snow & ice!

After getting home at 12.30am, I was a complete quivering wreck. The car performed very well, I only lost the ability to control it on a particularly bad piece of ice rink where numerous cars had been abandoned. I guess they all had the same trouble! 4 guys pushed my sideways to stop the car sliding into the abandoned ones after telling me to keep the revs up to 2000 and stop for nothing! God bless them and all the ladies who were dishing out tea, coffee and biscuits to us stranded motorists here in Basingstoke.

Managed to get the car back up our road this morning with the help of a shovel and a carpet! It's staying there until the snow melts and I am working from home. I just hope I can get out tomorrow night to collect my Xmas food order from M&S otherwise its frozen chicken for Xmas dinner!!!

Just noticed your car is exactly the same as mine! :) (apart from those 'spare' doors on the back)

I said "up to 2000" not above :)

I know that I'm going to get slated for this but I find the best way of getting up icy hills in all of the small FWD hatches I've owned is to give it the beans! It definitely worked the other day when I tried to go up slowly avoiding wheelspin and failed, second attempt with a bit more gas I whizzed straight up! :D

She has a petrol, but I bet that's the redline on the derv. ;)
