Wiper motor busted!

Featured Replies

My windscreen wiper appears to be broken, joy of joys. Does anyone know if it's covered in my warranty?? Thanking you x

I would hope and expect it is covered!

Not good news that this has gone. I hope you get it sorted ASAP :)

tried the fuse?

Mine even after defreezing windscreen have been a bit frozen...it got frozen, motor may have struggled and fuse blown?

Defo covered in warranty if actually busted!

Mine went after 2 months of ownership last winter and mine went again yesterday.

VERY unimpressed.

How long did it take Ford to mend it? Is it an overnight jobby? If so my Mum will have to convoy with me otherwise I'll be stranded in Hemel. Going to try and take the car in on Tuesday. I hope my salesman is in, he was delish  No wonder I bought the car

Where are the fuses? In the glove box? I know mine were frozen up last week with this joyous weather. I tried them once then the next time I tried it was broken, could be my problem! What fuse do I need? Do Halfrauds do them? I'll be so excited if I can actually mend it myself

The fuse box is behind the glovebox. You open the glovebox, then have to squeeze the sides inwards. It then pivots on the hinges.

All mended :) I'm so pleased with myself, never been able to mend something car-related before  Switched a fuse over this morning to make sure it was that before I went over to Halfrauds and it solved it. There's a serious shortage of fuses in the shops, asked the numpty behind the parts counter if he had any 10v fuses as there wasn't any out that I could see and he mumbled that they were sold out, then on my way out I found some! Excellent customer service, not!

Anyways, I won't bother adding it to that thread, Piggy, as I don't think a blown fuse is really a 'fault' per se. Glad Fabio is in working order again, it's awful driving these salty roads without being able to clean your windscreens.

Excellent News!

Just realised that I stated in my first post it was my wiper that was broken, when infact it was my WASHER motor. What a div  Do excuse me...

same thing can happen tho flic, so if wipers do that one day, check your fuses! :)

get some good screenwash additive in that bottle...stop it freezing again! :)

well done :)

Thanks to a helping hand from Flic, my fuse has now been sucessfully replaced B)

  • 3 weeks later...

Less than a year into ownership of my MK7 the fuse went for the windscreen washer jets, thats earlier than I expect (given my old man's focus did 100,000 miles and he changed his once and my mum's Ka is 4 years old and it has never been replaced.

The replacement then went a month later, I replaced it again last week and then 5 days later it went again.

NOT HAPPY FORD

Sounds like the washer motor is shorting out or something, causing the fuse to blow repeatedly - get them to change the motor.

my fuse for the washers have gone twice now as well, think it may be down to the cold though as in the summer it never happend
