Another update:

Started to gather some quotes off garages around the area to get it fixed...

- Couple have said they won't do it.

- Some haven't even bothered getting back to me.

- The only one who'll do it wants nearly, wait for it ... £900.

New car time me thinks.

Sounds like it. Glad you're getting things sorted though, spending that amount of money fixing it just wouldn't be worth it. Why don't you get it weighed in at a scrap yard and put the money from that towards a new car :)

Final update.

Car was checked by a specialist Ford Dismantler today. Offered me £140 plus the one month's tax on it. Not sure what he's doing with the car. Probably breaking it up with spares, he actually seemed impressed with the car (apart from the front, obviously). So yeah, officially car-less now after Wednesday when he picks it up.

Not a very good history with cars to be honest, I seem to be cursed. :(

First car - Run out of money, after being let off work and had to sell it.

Second car - Scrapped after a month.

Third - Written off.

I haven't even been driving 2 years. :(

Ahhh well, just think yourself lucky that you havn't been hurt yet!!

The £150-odd will be handy to put away for a new car, still on track??

Bad stuff always comes in threes, so you have a clear run for here on in :D

Yeah I suppose, just looking forward to the annual bonus from work now.

Have lowered my sights on a car now. I've had a grudge against small cars so I've always had mid-sized, which ultimately means they make me skint! So set my choice to Ford Fiesta Mk. 5, Fiat Punto II, Seat Ibiza or Peugeot 206.

for you i'd recommend the fiesta 1.8d, cheap and its a diesel so you'll be getting the MPG you require.

Also the SEAT Ibiza, but you'll have to spend more money.
