Hello, no it`s not normal.
1st check all pipes, radiator etc for any signs of leak.
If there is no leak and coolant still missing you need to deeper investigate cause it can be head gasket etc. There is many possibilities but 1st check for any leaks:)

My wife's previous car was a Focus Mk1 , we had it 8 years and never needed to add coolant (I know someone is going to say the antifreeze will have lost it's antifreeze properties).

On my 2007 Fiesta 1.6tdci diesel I had to add coolant periodically, it was the plastic thermostat cover leaking where it bolted on. I found where the water came from by adding some Radweld and then after some time I could see a streak of red staining down the engine pointing to where the leak was (radweld being red).

I used to have the same car with the same problem.   A bottle of BarsLeaks cured it and the problem never reoccured.
