Fixing Drivers Seat Adjuster

I tried Googling the problem but could only find fixes for the handle to bring the seat forward to let people in the back seat and I couldn't think of a better term to use for the bar under the seat to move the seat along the tracks.

Somehow yesterday it managed to come unhinged and my seat is uncomfortably close to the steering wheel, even affecting my use of the pedals.

Does anyone know how that could be fixed? I can see the problem but since its metal I can't bend it in over the latch (who knows how it happened in the first place), and was hoping there's a proper way.

    Buy a second hand seat. You could get one cheap I'm sure.
