Guide: Mk2 Leaking Coolant Driver's Footwell Fix

My son bought a 2006 Focus. We found that the join on one of the pipes carrying coolant from the engine to the heater matrix was leaking. After many hours and several o rings later, we just could not get the top pipe connected without the male end catching the o ring on the way through (despite a lot of silicon grease).

So, we have now decided to move to plan B - a short length of radiator hose and 3 jubilee clips. The radiator hose will cover where the pipes join and about 5cm each side. Then one jubilee clip over the join, and the other two either side of the join. That's for tomorrow. Wish us luck!!!

After much jiggery-pokery, we have now managed to get the o ring fitted and the pipe join isn't leaking (at the moment).

We found that fitting the pipe ends together a few times, without any o ring, helped align the pipes when we did it with the o ring.
