Strange movement when steering..

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I've just replaced my struts with oe ford items (as my old spring snapped in the cold weather), that includes complete strut and springs. All bolts are tight and double checked.

When the car is on the jacks you can move the wheel left and right by about 1/4-1/2 inch and a small klonk is heard, same the other side. When doing the movement from left to right and right to left, you can see the bottom of the strut rotating slightly and same for the pivot hub which the brake disk attaches to. The car has just passed mot and they advised it's worth checking the steering rack mounting rubbers but I've since checked them and there's no movement in that part. The steering rods also look fine and cant feel movement there either...

Any ideas? Car drives normally and feels like no play in steering once on the tarmac...very strange.
