Budget respray?

Featured Replies

My fiesta is looking a bit battered an bruised. The poor girl is getting old.

I'm working for a company thats going nowhere, and am on crap wages =P So I have no money to care for her, or for a new car.

Due to damage to the rear of the car she's Pacific Green with a Red boot lol. Bit of an eyesore. And a tad embaressing =P

I'm thinking of doing a budget respray, in Matt Black.

Does anyone have any comments, advice, or experience to share with me before I embark on this mission?

I'm planning on hiring a double garage for a week, removing the bonnet, doors, boot, petrol cap, lights, etc. But I dont wanna rip her to pieces. Just wanna get a reasonable finish.

Do you reckon i'll be able to just scratch her up a bit with sandpaper and spray the Matt Black straight on, or reckon I should definately use primer first? xD

If i was you i'd sand it back and spray with primer first.

I know a few people who have just sprayed Matt Black and it WILL start flaking off after a while.

Many years ago a neighbour of mine painted her car "blue" with hammerite. Then proceeded to paint a squirrel on the bonnet and various other bits and bobs on the doors etc. God it was ugly, but also a good laugh and certainly got noticed !

Cheers for the info guys =]. Think I'll definately primer first then xD I was also planning on doing the bonnet in blackboard paint. Just for a bit of fun =P
