Advice on little additions to mk6

Featured Replies

Hi all,

We have picked up our Fiesta Flame and its a great little car. I'm so suprised with how quick the 1.4 engine is.

Will post some pictures when it stops raining etc.

Anyway, a few things i'd like to know... do any of the mk6 fiestas come with a glovebox light??? And also the interior light in the Ghia with the map reading lights built in...anyone got a picture of one?

And, the car has only manual mirrors but would the wiring be there to plug electric mirrors in?

Cheers guys!

Mark :)

Cheers for that. I know its a standard fit on the Ghia of 2004 as i ordered a fiesta brochure from the year our car was registered! That ST light in the link is expensive...was thinking a few quid from a breakers! Will have to sort something out with regards glovebox...maybe something on another model ford such as mondeo or focus could be modified to fit..not the first time i've had a project like that.

Anyway, just enjoying driving it so far...not even had time to get some pictures yet. Even my avatar pic is from the dealers website of the car! :D

Ps: Anyone know about electric mirrors etc? And also is there a Ford parts cd out there?

You can buy a NEW interior "Focus Ghia Interior Lamp with Map Light", from fordpartsuk.com, for £19.87 + Vat + post, part number 4405351.

Google "http://fordpartsuk.com/shop/products.php?id=32"

I got mine from a scrappy, for £18, and fitted a new 10 watt 44 mm festoon bulb, + new maplights with the 9 mm dia + opposed bayonet pips, the BA9s cap, available from "www.leadinglamps.co.uk" as plain bulbs, or bluevision, or ring 233 Vision24 T4W long life Halogen bulb, as intended for heavy duty in DRL's, so 3x normal life.

The standard interior light plugs in my Mk 6.5 '58 reg Fiesta Zetec Climate were all the unit required -- no wiring mods., there was a theatre-dimming feed, plus the live for the maplight bulbs. (The theatre-dimming is incompatible with the LED I tried.)

Cheers mate for the help. Will be looking in local Ford breaker this week for the focus ghia light!

:)

Bad news to report about my Focus Ghia maplight unit,-- I tried out the freshly arrived Ring bulbs, to see if they were brighter than the Bosch ones I got from a local factor. The bosch 5 watt ones were brightar, but after refitting them, and plugging the unit back in to the dangling leads, NO POWER!! The light in the boot is also out. I know there is a "time-out" feature on these, but it looks like a fuse has blown.

I tried checking the maplight unit with a multimeter, with confusing readings, so I wish I'd bought a new unit from "www.fordpartsuk.com", but if the problem is due to letting it "timeout" that wouldn't matter. The Haynes manual seems to imply one particular fuse could be the problem. Nothing else is affected. The boot light is powered-up in a thro-route from the interior light. Meantime the original light is fitted, but dead.
