  5. A site box seems like the way forward indeed, had a look at one this morning atm i wasn't able to test how well it opens inside the van. Unfortunately the only register i have with serials numbers is the PAT test certificate, and that... is so beaten up it's unreadable. I must say truly caught me out, next time i will be far more prepared. Seems i was naive putting my trust in just the van door locks... Greg thank you for the offer mate it's much appreciated but i have been given some help from a family member and hopefully i will be able to replace all my tools by the end of next week. Some of my tools were direct order from manufacture as they aren't stocked in stores.

  7. hey guys! this is my first attempt at a progress thread! This is my progress thread for my little mk4 fiesta :) it is my first car and has come along way since ive had it :) This is the car when i first bought it. Completely standard apart from a crappy little induction kit and a scorpion exhaust.

  8. Hi all, This may be a stupid question but I am not to sure on the answer , If I was to tint / smoke my rear fog and reverse lights would this pass an MOT ? I wouldn't go for a dark tint just a slight one... Thanks in advance :-)

  9. Had a test drive in an ST-3 today. Was what we hoped it would be a compliant ride, nice sound, swift when you want it, a good all rounder, ticks many boxed nice on motorway, fun on the b roads, will get a mountain bike in the boot and would probably not mind the odd track outing if that's your thing.

Certainly a nice ride than our current Countryman and more space :) I have to admit having read and watched a few reviews with all the talk of torque steer was expecting a handful and would get it all the time, found that drive smooth it's uneventful in that regard, even under a decent amount of throttle didn't seem as bad as the reviews say, once I'd boxed that off just concentrated on the rest of the drive, we both drive it and both really liked it, and in our opinion the blue with style pack grey wheels does look stunning. (other great stunning looking colours are also available!!)

Looks like we should have one end of September all being well :)

  14. Just fitted Cree 501's in mine, they are really bright only issue is they don't shine directly down but slightly to the side, you can see in the photo below. Got them off ebay £4.99 each but really quick delivery from this guy, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Cree-LED-Super-White-3w-T10-501-W5W-Car-Van-Bulb-Sidelight-Interior-Exterior-/300882289692?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item460dfb641c I also put themin my reverse lights they are super bright! Advantage with these is they intelligent so no problems with polarity, just plug and play. I have just fitted a nother set in front sidelights and upgraded headlights to HID's so all my bulbs are properlywhite now.

  18. Really sorry to hear this Kurt, I have been there once myself too but not to the extent or value of your gear. I had my entire tool box contents stolen from my work, they left the box though! They were tools supplied by my work but that was over a year ago and they still haven't replaced much of it. Anyway, we are now forced to use site boxes due to the very high number of thefts. One of these as mentioned already would be a great addition for your van IMHO even if it does add 50kg. The type we are using claim to stop you getting a pry bar in and the locks are very heavy duty and welded inside the box with a heavy steal plate around them on the outside. They are absolutely solid and would definitely take a bit of a beating and slow someone down considerably. I hope you get the scum bag(s) that nicked your tools but more importantly i hope you get your tools back so you can continue to work as soon as possible Did you have a list of serial numbers or any identification marks on your tools?

  23. sorry to hear this m8ty, i once had my van broken into in brighton luckily they only got away with my m8s broken power tools as all the others were on site. contact your local cash convertors etc, visit local boot fairs look in your local friday ad for any tools that seem like yours. if you were very local to me i could perhaps lend you a few bits.

  24. Thanks for the kind words guys, i have looked into insurance and no my insurance does not cover it nor does my public liability insurance covers tools. Insurance that specifically covers tools is so much that unless everything is stolen as in this case it's not worth it. I have looked online been looking since it happened nothing has popped up that is familiar, trying very hard to pick myself up but i won't lie this has truly discouraged me and i feel paranoid about vans! I believe the next step for me is to get a steal site box and have it welded to the van floor, will be costly and adds excessive weight but it is an option that seems to work based on speaking to people who've had experience with this. Credit card shall be my next option too a very unwanted one at that. Once again guys thanks for the kind words and advice, taking everything into account for future reference because this has been damaging to my life. I'm still shocked at it all crazy stuff Oh yeah and i have never and will never buy power tools at markets or gumtree i will not support the trend for theft, will purchase all new tools. Will be researching power tool tagging/prints of some sort

  25. from personal experience, van insurance is a joke when it comes to tools...you either pay through the nose to the point you could buy new kit every two years with premiums, or find out all the get out clauses when you make a claim, far better off insuring individual items, still costs a bit though and hard to find a policy that pays out a decent value for theft of unattended equipment

  26. Sorry to hear it Kurt, good to see that the officers are still digging into it for you, surely though your van insurance should cover some of the cost?

  27. sorry to hear this Kurt. my dad had his garage broken into and it was a horrible sickening feeling and put me and my dad right off for ages. luckily his customers and locals helped out with tools and he got started again. i hope they catch the gits and you recover your tools.

  28. Gently tap the centre of the three plugs using the screwdriver and hammer, Now I don't mean ''hammer them home'' God no Just a ''1, 2, 3, Tap'' They will fall inside the door where they can be easily retrieved and stored later. Once the grommet has been freed and all bolts removed, You should be able to part the panels enough to reach in and unplug the loom from the central locking module and lock. As pictured below On the upper left side of the door close to the mirror, you will see this grommet securing the cables, Unplug this grommet to release the excess cable allowing easier movement of the panel When the central locking plug is disconnected and the grommet holding the excess loom has been unplugged, gently remove the panel from the door ensuring the electric window brackets on the inside of the panel don't catch on removal as they can be easily bent. The loom will remain part of the panel, So rest the panel in the foot well of the car but take care: the edge on the panel is very sharp and can scratch so take care when resting it in the foot well while working inside the door Now the panels removed you can retrieve those plugs that were tapped through earlier Store them safe for returning later. Finally here we see the part we have been long awaiting to find, The entrance/exit of cables to the grommet. Gently push the grommet to the outside of the panel At this point in the creation of the guide "Thunder Struck" and the rain began so I grabbed a bin liner and some tape to shelter until the rain passed, How's that for blacked out windows ;) Now that we have removed the grommet that is inside the door; to the outside We can now temperaly return the panel to the door and secure it with one or two bolts to support it, While we begin to remove interior panels. Now on to the interior panels Using the T25 Torx, remove the screw from the panel When removed, gently pull the panel on a horizontal level straight towards the rear of the car.

  30. So not many mods planned for this month as im saving for a vacation to NYC. Debadging the Focus was next on the list, so did that this evening. Not a fan of having it entirely bare, so I bought an MK3 Focus Badge to replace the stock one. I quite like it. What do you guys think?

Love it when packages arrive in the post, glad to be working from home today: Swapped my sidelights for these LEDs: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Super-Bright-Xenon-White-Sidelight-LED-Bulbs-Replacement-501-W5W-T10-Canbus-Car-/280823193038?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item41625dddce, and managed to break the housing on one, so need to see if I can find a replacement on ebay. That's all the mods for this month. More next month ;)

Absolutely love it.

  48. If the key is programmed onto the car it will count as a second key and will allow you to unlock the programming phase on the pats. If it is (as I suspect it will be) a cloned key then the car will not recognise it as a second key and will not unlock the programming. If you are adding a second key properly, the only way to do it is via the car using a vcm/ids terminal.
