  1. Second purchase update for March: First item to arrive was from "RScommunications" on eBay, Supplied me with a 15 Piece Upholstery Trim Removal Tool Set Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350830482248 This kit will hopefully prevent any panels from damage when stripping out the interior. Next item to arrive was from "Spares-2-Go" on eBay, Supplied me with " AMTECH Mini Stubby Ratchet Wrench Screwdriver Socket Tool + Bit Set Philips Torx" Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191454302767 I purchased this kit mainly because it has the large Torx screwdriver bits to enable removal of the seats in the focus. Next item to arrive was from "smitwhomath" on eBay Supplied me with an Official blue "SPARCO" Tow Strap, Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171845269997 I plan to fit this to the inside of the Boot door nice touch while keeping in scene using a race orientated item to suffice as a boot grab handle :) Next items to arrive were from my good friends at "RadioWorld" on eBay Supplied me with a further 6 Metres of "Vibe 4AWG Positive Flatline Cable" Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251113035519 Sold per Metre (Qty: 1= 1Metre cable) I have previously purchased a 7 metre length of this Vibe cable from RadioWorld to power the Mono Amp, Having saw the cable is flatter, more flexible and slightly more copper strands inside compared to standard 4AWG; I sold all of the standard 4AWG i had and purchased this Flatline to replace it in powering the 4 Channel Full range amp. Next items again from "RadioWorld" on eBay was 2 Metres "Vibe 4AWG Flatline Negative feed" Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261070670815 Sold per Metre (Qty: 1= 1Metre cable) The negative cable goes with the positive really, not much to say in regards to it. Next items again from "RadioWorld" on eBay was 2 sets "Vibe 4AWG Gold Crimp ring terminals" Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260795059516 Next item was from "fullspeedit" on eBay Supplied me with "Braided Sleeving Cable Harness Sheathing Expanding Sleeve" in Black Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290814495525 Ideal for holding loose cables together behind the rear seat etc. next two items to arrive were from www.modcover.com these guys were the cheapest supplier of some RJ11 socket dust caps Link: http://www.modcover.com/products/RJ11-Port-Silicone-Rubber-Dust-Cover.html "Insert Image" i plan to use two of these, one for each of the amplifiers RJ11 remote volume line controller sockets to prevent dust from getting in there as i wont be using these sockets due to the Headunit having a built in digital equalizer control all sounds can be electronically adjusted. next item from the same supplier was some RCA socket caps. Link: http://www.modcover.com/products/RCA-Port-Silicone-Rubber-Dust-Cover.html "Insert Image" i plan to use four of these to cover the Pre-amp output sockets on both of the amps, again to prevent anything from getting inside and it seals all open ends on the system up nicely, Next purchase was from "rmxdirect" Supplied me with a "Lindy 2 Metre 90 degree USB cable" Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151310650611 I plan to use this cable for my old reliable TomTom XL live SatNav. Plug this cable in to the USB socket inside the glovebox and in to the satnav on the windscreen, Keeps the centre console free from cables on long journeys. Final item of the month to arrive was from "UKbargainFinder" on eBay, Supplied me with an Unlocked 4G Huawei E8278 BUZZARD 4G IN CAR MOBILE BROADBAND WIFI Router, Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201299583173 Since my internet connection in the home is via Sim Card plugged in to a Router, This Car WiFi Router seemed a fantastic idea as when traveling long distances i wont be at home to make use of the WiFi Subscription, However though the use of this item; i can transfer the sim from the house router to the mobile router and providing there's coverage i can continue to stream Music from YouTube through my phone on to the headunit via Bluetooth without exceeding my data allowance on my phone contract. Passengers can also connect to the device while on the move. No modifications required to install it simply plugs in to the spare USB socket within the glovebox or in to the 12V socket in the boot compartment via the supplied 12V to USB plug.

  11. well finally got round to buying a superchips bluefin for my fiesta ecoboost 125 a couple of weeks ago after reading many posts on here. i have no problems with it at all, cruise control works the same and stop/start the same. the difference is amazing, if you just tickle the throttle it drives perfectly smooth as before but when you press the throttle more the torque delivery is so linear, no flat spot at all and pulls strong all the way to the limiter, now iv'e got used to it i never give it much throttle and the mpg appears unchanged. it's just good to know you have some really useful overtaking power under your right foot, gives you confidence, anyone that is still thinking about trying a bluefin, just go for it, you won't be disappointed.

  12. Since I bought my focus I was thinking about fitting cruise control. Some may say it is not necessary, but I find it very useful on long motorway trips. Started searching for info on the internet and here are the results. Before buying any parts there is few things to check: 1. GEM number – according to info I have it must end with DX (where X could be any letter - A,B or any other), for example 4M5T-14A073-DW. I have read about another person who has successfully added Cruise Control to their Ford with a "C" GEM, but it was only one case and I am not 100% sure about it. You can read the GEM number on the sticker on the other side of fuse box. 2. Check the GEM connector 103 – blue one with two rows of wires, located on the left next to fuses – if it has brown wire attached to pin 10 and white wire attached to pin 18. 3. Check steering wheel clock spring connector if it has 6 wires – two are for the horn, two for the airbag and the two mentioned above are for the cruise control. To do this you have to remove steering column cover. The upper part has two hooks – you can see them when you turn steering wheel 90 degrees right and left. Release them and remove the cover. The lower part is fixed with two Torx 25 screws, but first you have to remove the radio steering controls. The Connector is under steering column just behind steering wheel. 4. Check if there are two switches present on the brake pedal as pictured below (black and blue). And also check if there is a switch present on clutch pedal (black, and of course only manual transmission). A Ford dealer mechanic informed me, that he has never seen a car without them fitted, but it is better to check your specific model before continuing. The next thing to do is to find a Ford dealer which will activate cruise control in our car and this might be the hard part. I did it while I was abroad on holidays so unfortunately I can’t recommend any dealer’s in the UK that would carry out this service. It might be worth asking some Ford specialist / independent garage as well. It is necessary to connect the car to IDS and activate / program cruise control in GEM module, the PCM module (engine control system) and instrument cluster (cruise control will work without it, but there will be no control light when CC is on). Parts required: If your car is currently equipped with a 4 spoke steering wheel then you just need to purchase a replacement 4 spoke wheel that has the cruise control buttons attached, it is not necessary to purchase a second airbag unit. Please note: The steering wheel with CC from the Ford c-max is not suitable for the focus. If your car has 3 spoke steering wheel like mine was, then the airbag will not fit 4 spoke one directly. But fortunately you don’t have to buy new airbag; you can simply get an airbag cover for the 4 spoke steering wheel. This is a genuine Ford part and the airbag will be fully functional with the replacement cover fitted. Do not bother asking your dealer for this cover because it is not listed as separate part. Instead go to e-bay for example see this link: http://www.ebay.de/itm/AIRBAG-LENKRAD-COVER-ABDECKUNG-DECKEL-FORD-FOCUS-/230613340397?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item35b1a050ed Before you start this modification and remove the airbag from the wheel it is recommended to disconnect battery. Remove steering column cover to get some space. Time to remove airbag – there are 3 holes in steering wheel from column side. Start from the side, turn wheel for easier access, slide flat short screwdriver all the way in (1), than twist it (2) and at the same time pull the airbag. Turn the steering wheel and repeat with two remaining hooks. When the airbag is unhooked disconnect the plug and connector as seen in the image below: Now easy part – unplug remaining connector, unscrew (key 27 as far as I remember) and change steering wheel. Then tight the screw, plug connector and it’s done. Fitting the airbag is very easy – plug in the connectors, put airbag in place and push it. If you need to change the airbag cover you will have to damage the old one, unfortunately there is no easy way to remove it and there is a risk of damaging the airbag. I found the easiest option was to cut it in pieces and remove in sections, avoiding any damage to the airbag unit. Once the old cover has been removed from the airbag unit, put new one in place over the airbag and push hard. I changed the cover after CC activation just in case it would fail and I wanted to fit back my 3 spoke steering wheel. To avoid airbag fault light on the connectors were plugged and the airbag was fittied with some tape in order to get to the dealer and back home. All together it took me around one hour to change steering wheel, most of the time I spent trying to figure out how to remove the airbag unit itself. All you have to do now is to contact your local Ford dealer and activate CC. In my case it took them about one hour to do this. Unfortunately I can’t exactly say how much money you will have to spend. I did this modification while I was on holiday abroad, the local dealer there had no problems with the LHD car, but not every Ford dealer wants to do this because “This is against Ford policy”. Parts bought over the internet and dealer labour costs were probably cheaper than in UK: - used steering wheel with CC in “like new” condition – 28.00 GBP - new airbag cover for 4 spoke steering wheel – 18.00 GBP - activation – 37.00 GBP Source of information and some of the photos: http://tentoys.livej....com/68940.html http://ffclub.ru/topic/3475/ http://forum.fordclu...ad.php?t=128806 Thank you for reading, I hope my guide is of help to others and should you have any questions please feel free to ask. 13. Hi Folks, I'm Ashleigh from Durham and I've not long bought a Mk7 2009 Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 and I'm loving it! Unfortunately I cannot take any of the credit for the detailing as we bought it like this, but still loving showing it off! :)

  14. The 6000 does not have a bluetooth module in it. If a module is fitted then it is a seperate unit (either mounted behind the glovebox or behind the centre console). Do you have a microphone port by the courtesy light and a voice button on the steering column radio control?

  19. Saul ask him bout the strut brace will help stiffen you're suspension up at the front and with you flipping the axle mounts it will handle really great
    1 point
  20. That's not bodywork that's rusting, it's the base plate of the strut brace which is bolted to the suspension turret and into the strut top mount. It's fitted after the car has gone through all the e-coat processes etc in paintshop and is similar to most of the suspension parts under the car in terms of being painted black but can eventually have paint come off and go rusty. Would be very surprised if the bodywork protection warranty covered it as I'd expect Ford to classify it as a suspension/chassis component.

  21. I can remember browsing through some snaps of your car Hassen. Great looking car! I think I'm going to do the wheels myself. Want to have a play plus it keep the price down immensely. The old man has got some experience in the field so that'll help. He wants me to do the wheels next rather than the bodykit because he thinks it will have a bigger effect. What you guys think?

  29. Looking at that site for the maps website its about 100pounds for a 2015 dvd. On the ford website it says that map updates are now 75pounds or 80pounds (cant remember which). Though I have heard of members ringing up ford dealers only to be told oh no its not 80pounds its 250pounds.. And the dealer wouldnt believe what the website says. Either way though I think even 70quid is extortionate for a map dvd each year. I would love to actually use the built in satnav in my mondeo but the dvd is from 2009 so roads will have changed a lot since then and I really cant justify spending 70+quid on a single map when I have a tomtom with free lifetime map updates so I get 4 maps free each year.

  31. no worries mate, here to help! I was kind of curious myself how DDS system reports it to the driver, last thing I was wanting was a fog horn going off and the dash lighting up like a xmas tree whilst driving about. As Jason suggested above, just let the air out a bit then let us know ;) I do wonder why ford didn't enable this anyway, I wonder if they detected some issues after it was created and decided to just scrap it.

  34. I bought this bumper for my Focus also, you won't believe what I paid for it - €20,- yes, that's 2-0 - twenty euros! :D I was little scratched (5-6cm) and already in my color, panther black. It's currently being fixed and repainted again for the paint to be alike all over the bumper, also with my new ST rear spoiler...aaaaand you won't believe what I found today after months of searching...this: !!! http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6549745366.html?orderId=66287068973317 Oh yeah, foglight covers with integrated DRLs!!! They've been available from some dude from Philipines I believe, some time ago, but after few emails I sent him, I finally got a response that he's not doing it anymore...but today is my lucky day I guess! Just sitting at work, drinking my morning coffee and browsing around the web and I found them! Out of the blue! So, of course, order is placed and I can't wait to get them! :D

So as mentioned in my other post my egr cooler was always breaking due to vibrations. So today i decided to get rid of the whole loop. firstly i removed the hose connecting to the cooler and blanked the hole. i then presumed that because this was the direction of flow, there would be no problems. just like blanking the EGR, just further up in the line. unfortunately excess air was being exhausted out of the egr once it opened...no good!! So next step was to make a blanking plate for the EGR valve. this allowed me to remove the cooler and all the !Removed! inbetween. the car now works perfect, way more power. way more torque..job done. Pictures are in the links below This is where the air exhausts from. This is the hose connecting the engine to the cooler. removed I made a template for the hole The plate fitted i then made a simple egr plate and was good to go...

  43. Thanks fellas. Could not of done it with out your help Darren. Thanks also to jbeer for the DDS part. I will try to get it going tomorrow if I get a chance. So do you have to set your actual tyre pressures first before resetting it in the menus? Also does eco mode reset with the average fuel reset option? Thanks again they all add some nice features to the car. Is there any way to set the over speed limit to a speed of your own choice I think it's set at 112kmph which is roughly around 75mph I think. I guess this is for motorway driving to warn if over the limit or something.

  44. When I said about people hopping out of cars in disabled spots, the amazing thing is, they often tend to have a blue badge... Of course the danger is you end up a bit like that scene in "me, myself and Irene" where the bloke is actually picking up someone frail or something, but the majority of the time it's either someone who doesn't really need that parking space (even if they are disabled) or much like the empty car seat, they've got the blue badge because they often ferry their granny around but she's no where to be seen... 45. Things I don't like? The people who are jumping on the anti Clarkson bandwagon saying things like "he thinks he's invincible and can say what he wants" I am seriously offended by this for infinite reasons - Firstly I have no doubt the people saying the above would also jump on the 'we should have free speech' bandwagon provided it fits their views... So they're hypocritical! Secondly - where are these people when certain groups march UK streets holding placards about killing our soldiers or our soldiers going to hell? So those groups can say that, but Clarkson can't make some 'flippant' comment that he probably has no personal backing about? Etc etc Don't get me wrong, if he hit someone then I guess the BBC can't be seen to do nothing, but there are far more pressing people to be peeved at than Mr C... 48. You need one of these. A current fuse tester available on ebay. Just remove each fuse and plug in and see the current drain.
    1 point
  49. Service it yourself. It's easy peasy and just costs you the parts costs - which you can get cheap as chips from eBay or elsewhere. You don't get the stamp for service history which brings down the value of your car slightly, but probably not by as much as you would spend getting the stamp even at a small independent.
