  2. Placed a deposit today on a Fiesta ST-Line X 1L 140ps in shadow black with 500 miles on the clock I was originally looking at magnetic but they were all reserved/sold with the spec and mileage I was looking at. This one is fully spec so has LED front headlights, reverse sensors and rear camera, 18" alloys I believe and also according to features on site it has panorama roof, didn't mention that. Took a test drive in an ST line 140ps and its lovely to drive, the car i reserved wasn't at the garage but I will check it out and test drive first. Thanks for the help, I will update at a later date. interested in seeing how the LED headlights are.

  3. Well my first car is gone, got £550 for it in the end. Was quite sad to see it drive off with its new owner, but looking forward to the new car!

  4. Just filled up again and this car, despite being automatic, is returning exactly the same mpg as my last Fiesta which was exactly the same but manual. Very impressed with this auto box, it goes through the gears much quicker than I could in the manual one.

  5. Ford Direct can be very good - you get the Ford Direct warranty in addition to the balance of manufacturers warranty, it includes 2 years breakdown, and a 30 day exchange plan. A lot of them are ex-Ford staff vehicles and quite highly specified, they could also be ex-hire or ex-demo. My own experience was mixed - I bought a C-Max which a local dealer had in stock and it was 100% - immaculately prepared. A few years earlier I bought a Fiesta that was not physically at the dealer, but brought in from Ford Direct national stock. It turned out to be a wrong 'un and was rejected under the plan. At the time there were no other suitable cars on Ford Direct to exchange it with, so I was offered an excellent deal on a new car, which I accepted. So my advice would be only to consider cars physically at the dealer.

Hi Guys. I’m Nic. I’m new here. I’ve joined as I’ve purchased a Ford Focus 5 months ago and it’s cost me a small fortune already between throttle pedal, filters and coil springs. I have a bigger problem now and hoping someone can help. Nic

  9. All done now, working well. I was able to keep the original plug too so if I ever want to put the old horn back on it will be easy. Here is the sound clip. The connections are all spade connections which have been covered with heat shrink sleeving, the wires themselves have been wrapped in felt tape and the old plug (which is still live) has been placed in the thumb of a rubber glove and taped up to stop it getting wet. 10. The fuel filters do block up quite often on these causing an engine cutout without any prior warning. If it throws a low fuel pressure fault, filter is definitely worth trying before anything more expensive. The coated DPF should last the lifetime of the car, certainly well past 100k. Though if it hasn't been able to regen for any reason (split pipes, dodgy sensor etc) then it's possible for them to block up beyond saving sooner. Just on a side note, I'd personally not blank the EGR on a DPF model. It's used to control the burn once the soot is alight (by reducing oxygen) so can allow the DPF to overheat and in extreme cases catch fire without it operational.

  11. There is a version 3.4 for 2020 vehicles so you may get offered it for your car. There is a running debate at present as to whether of not updates via wifi is working now as it never worked in Europe . If it does work for you the sync3 screen will tell you. Your probably better off checking for updates periodically on the ford website. https://www.ford.co.uk/owner/resources-and-support/sync-bluetooth/update#/

  14. There's a couple of threads in the Fiesta forum showing how folks have fitted a spare to cars with pan roof and subwoofer.
    1 point
  15. Yep sounds like the B&O system, the standard one doesn't have a Sub. And yes you can't have a spare as the Subwoofer goes in the spare tray. Never got the point of having a powerful Hi-Fi system in a car. I was a bit of an Audiophile in my youth and spent a small fortune on some Hi FI gear for home but in the car it seems pointless. If you want to hear the music in good quality over the engine/road noise you'd have to have it so loud you'll be unable to hear emergency vehicle sirens and will probably be damaging your hearing. And how anyone can concentrate with music that loud is beyond me. Also you can't hear your engine or any unusual sounds that might indicate a problem with your car. Many years ago I followed a friend up to the Snetterton Race track. He was about 150 metres in front of me when he collected a traffic cone that had fallen over at some road works. He carried on driving for the next 5 miles with the thing scraping away under his car, despite me blasting the horn and flashing the lights. When we got to the track the muppet said he had no idea, he knew he'd clipped it but assumed it was just that. He'd had his hi fi on so loud he didn't know it was there.

  16. @TomsFocus my dad might go tomorrow to see a 2005 volvo S60 2 litre 5 cylinder turbo. It's just this worry about ULEZ. I'm going to look next year what happens in the mayoral election and whever I might have to sell my car or not

  17. First time I got into an auto car, Roger, the instructor told me to take my left shoe off. It worked.

  18. Agreed. My mate has a Mk3.5 ST-3, it has barely any legroom and especially with the Recaros feels very cramped. The Mk4 is much better but I still don't think the comfort is as good as the Mk2.5, the rear seats especially feel like they have hardly any padding compared to my car.

  19. I owned an automatic Volvo 240GLE about 35 years ago Roger. Had it for three years. I was a police driver though and we trained on both manual and automatic cars as we might have had to drive either on occasion.

  20. Hello, my name is Aaron. I am new to this forum, I just wanted to share my new purchase. It is a mk1.5 Focus 1.6 zetec with the optional climate Package. I paid a grand total of £150 for this wee motor. I think it is a fantastic deal for that price as it has very little rust (just a little bit of bubbling on the near side rear arch and a small rust hole on the near side front wing). The sills are completely solid!! The previous owner informed me it had brand new tyres on it and a timmeing belt change at 80k miles (it is now on 105k miles). The reason I got it so cheap is because it needs a new back box and new front pads, although I am gonna change all the pads. It is a very solid little car, that is honestly an amazing deal in my eyes. I am gonna do all the work myself so I will be able to save some money there, and I will get the rust and paint touch up done in work. (I am a trainee mechanic). Thank you for taking the time to read this, you can see a picture of my new car below.

  21. Yeah I find the facelifted interior of the mk2 is nicer than the awful interior on the mk3/mk3.5, ie no protruding dash that takes up nearly half the the interior space of the car. The mk2.5 has just a nicer interior in my opinion in all comparable specs.

  23. Hi Ford folks. This membership is in fact for two people - myself and my wife. After many years of mainly Nissan ownership, then two Honda Jazzes my wife had a test drive in a Fiesta saloon. Didn't quite like the general appearance then was shown a race red 3 door being prepped for another customer. So she bought a race red Fiesta ST-Line X 3dr 125PS delivered 30/10, Needless to say I had a drive and after about 12 Hondas, most recent the 1.5ltr Sport I thought mmmm - this is a much better drive! So guess what - I bought one too. Wife's car is standard off the line Race Red apart from purchased running spare, mine will be - when delivered Agate Black with running spare, heated front seats & steering wheel, rear camera & sensors, at time of writing in flushing awaiting shipping.

  25. Normally the deposit is to reserve the vehicle for you and take it off the market, you are committing to buy that vehicle. Usually you place a deposit at the time of ordering it. Don't have a copy around but I think the normal Ford order form states deposits are returnable only in the event that they are unable to supply the vehicle.

  26. I took it to a couple of garages yesterday morning and they had a look under the bonnet whilst it was running. Said it was moving about a bit excessively, but they can sound like that due to the 3 cylinders. It was moving the airbox quite a bit too which was causing the main rattling sound in the cabin I found. Went back to Ford about it and it's booked in for Tuesday. Not sure what they'll do about it, but they better sort it

  27. Hello, From the US have a '14 Fiesta S. Its not much but the main reason I came to this forum is this. I have a good chance at getting a same year SE and want to know how much I convert over. Even if I don't get the other car I enjoy my S and the 5spd. I also enjoy this car is very easy to work on mechanically. Thanks For Having Me, Rich

  30. Yeah, I think a lot of the problems back then were when Ford thought they could make carburettors. I had no problems with a Mk 1 Cortina which had a Zenith (later swapped for a big Stromberg), or a Capri which had a Weber. My Escort Mk 1 was as good as gold after the FoMoCo effort was swapped for a Zenith conversion. When we had the Mk 1 Fiesta I had an old Mini as a back up and that would start even with a flat battery if you parked on a bit of a slope and let it roll to bump start it.

  31. Ah, I remember those days well. Lying in bed on a cold frosty morning, contemplating a hard days work ahead whilst listening to the early risers churning over their starter motors until the battery gave up. Waiting for the swearing and slamming of doors as they stomped off indoors to find their can of easy-start. More swearing bonnets slamming and the optimistic sound of a starter motor spinning ever slower until it gave up yet again.. Get up for a nice bit of Bacon and Eggs and a cuppa then smugly go out to my MK 3 Cortina 2000 GXL with twin choke Weber carbs and fire her up on the first turn of the key. Jump in and roar off avoiding the neighbours all throwing their empty cans of easy start at me. That MK3 GXL never failed to start even on a 10 year old battery, even if it only had enough juice to turn over 1 or 2 turns it fired up. Unlike every other car of that era I owned which at the whiff of a cold or damp morning would usually fail to start.

  32. Slightly off the original topic (aren't I always), but must say I was very impressed with mine this morning. It was parked outside our caravan at the top of Wensleydale last night, temperatures were -4 or so and still showing -1 this morning when I got into the car which was covered in ice. It fired instantly at first touch of the button. This is a marked contrast with my first Fiesta back in 1980 which went into a sulk and refused to start if the sun went behind a cloud. So some progress in the last 39 years!😀
