  1. 10 miles on a modern diesel? DPFs probably blocked already... Seriously though, either take it for a run tomorrow to charge the battery (long way to the supermarket of course) or just take it back and ask them to plug it in. I suspect it'll just be due to low battery after sitting though.

  2. I like that we are still busy at work despite the lockdowns and garage showrooms closed to the public etc. Just hope it keeps like this until march registration time when we get extra busy again.

  3. I always liked and used intel, my desktop has an i7 and laptop has an i5, both devices are Dell, I suggest logging on to Dell website and have a look, I saved over €150 buying the same spec from Dell rather than in my local Currys store, and it has a built in illumated keyboard which can be switched off, bought a nice Bluetooth mouse to go with it, links to the laptops built in Bluetooth. I bought it last September, needed a second device for our kids learning from home due to covid outbreaks, there different ages; in different schools so required to be online at the same time, had to set up a second device, all logins on both devices are synchronised so the devices are first come first serve, aswell as network attached storage in the plan for easier access to files regardless of device. Anyway main story, I love the Dell laptop

  4. Generally you will find all vehicles will only have one rear guard fog lamp that illuminates on the off side of the vehicle . This is a safety feature and not a styling feature. It has been done this way so as not to be confused with brake lights. However depending on the country the vehicle will be purchased The lamp can be adapted to illuminate from whatever side is required savings manufacturing the need to create a different lamp fitting

  5. TrevorB, brilliant. I had a gander and there seems to be a shed load of discussion about the matter. Now I just gotta figure out what advice to take.

  7. Thanks Jonro2009, just having a look around, seems there is a wealth of info on here, plus lots more stuff I didn’t know about.

  8. Why are you removing it anyway, for security? You can get a camera without a screen, like a BlackVue or one similar to that. You use your smart phone as the screen\viewfinder.

  9. You may as well throw a dart at this special dart board to tell you what's wrong if you don't have a code reader.. . Seriously though, your judgement as to what's wrong is better than any one else on the internet without some sort of diagnosis or fault code, we're not miracle workers!

  10. I'm not sure what you want us to say other than take it back to the dealer, it's their problem.

  11. Unsure why you are worried, it's new from a main dealer, just take it back for them to sort!

  12. Hope it goes well for you mate, at least 80% of people will need to diversify in occupation to survive the pandemic, You will get to meet various types of people with different occupations and contacts where you will gain key opportunity to progress from there. if you lived local I could have gotten you in to the manufacturing sector, things are beginning to ramp up in certain departments.

  13. So yesterday went to a few estate agents looking for a job in sales to help build up my CV so it looks appealing for the mortgage career I want to get into. Hopefully will be doing the first exam this week for the qualification I need to get into that career. Thankfully one place said they can take me on calling different places to discuss stuff so I get some financial sales experience. Today they just called and seems like Im starting it next week 😁. It's unpaid but after a month they might take me on and employ me. Mum wasn't really happy with it as it's not in the science career I studied in but then with stupid covid that side there's hardly any trainee roles coming up plus this field in finance I feel id be better off in.

  14. And once it's out of warranty get it remapped to the same 190bhp that's in the ST. 😄

  15. I don't like having now spent €256.00 on purchasing various Hotwheels cars from different sellers this month ranging from €2 - €15 all in packaging which I was first to remove, I'll post some pictures when they all arrive by mid next week, Have them staged on shelves in different categories. There nice to look at, and addictive to purchase especially when there 1989 honda civic, nissan Silvia S16, AE86 Levin, Audi Quattro, MK2 escort, Volvo S60 estate, 1999 Subaru Impreza, lemans Mustang GT, honda Prelude, honda S2000, focus RS, fiesta rally, nissan fairlady 80's model, etc.

  16. If its any consolation, I'm just looking for an OEM focus base model one! I think my 90hp machine would feel a bit silly with an ST spoiler.

  17. Thank you Trevor. Bushes etc all seem fine, nothing is showing any wear. The more I've researched it does seem like it is probably replaced to alignment so think that is looking like the first thing to get checked. Cheers

  18. Sounds like a really good spec and worth going for it if it's the right price. The rear camera is actually really useful but get the dealer to upgrade the sync to the latest 3.4 Before this, a lot of us found the camera unusable at night as it was so bright it killed your night vision. 3.4 set it to be dimmer at night, which makes sense. Like others have said I would never let a diesel go over 9 or 10k without an oil change. Oil for diesels is different than oils for petrols. It holds soot in suspension, which is why it always turns black straight away. Eventually it is saturated with soot and should be changed.
    1 point
  19. As above, you'll most likely need an oil change around a year or less. But not a full service. The intervals have been dropped to make it more appealing to company car leasers. If you lease a large fleet for 3 years and only have to have one service rather than 3 that makes a huge difference. Lease & warranty only lasts 3 years so longevity isn't an issue for them. Regarding the car itself, a TX with all that extra spec must cost about the same as a Vignale? Vignale looks better than TX and comes with a nicer interior, but does come with 18" alloys if ride is important to you.
    1 point
  20. Even if the service intervals have changed, there will be an oil needs changed light and I doubt many people will manage 2 years without that being triggered.
    1 point
  21. Same engine, is was a bad decision to ever reduce the intervals but they now have to stand behind it for those cars. I'd get it serviced annually regardless.

  25. Update from my consultant friend. Today in hospital Covid-land Another long one, just home. It's horrible. 11 ambulances queuing with corridors full (how on earth does infection control work in this situation) in ED. Staff having to stay until gone 8pm on the day unit with a septic patient because there is nowhere to admit him to. Increasing numbers of patients phoning up to let us know they have positive Covid swabs, asking if they should come in. Even if we wanted them to (we don’t, unless they are sick enough to need oxygen) there is nowhere to put them. These are some of the most vulnerable patients out there, most of them shielding. The mortality rate from Covid in haematology patients in the first wave was 50%. Fifty percent. I think we are working in Covid soup, I think it is everywhere, and we should all be trying as hard as possible to reduce spread. Please, please, if you can avoid all contact outside your houses, do so. If you can work from home, even if it's harder, do so.

  28. Try pressure or vacuum bleeding. Next time, hold the brake pedal down with a piece of wood or something of that nature before you crack open anything. You’ll get a slight release of fluid and nothing more when you open a fitting.

  29. I opted for a faraday box, rather than a faraday pouch. Box stays near the front door, and keys go in the box. The pouches are ok, but after a lot of use they tend to lose their faraday-ness. I'm less concerned about any issues when I'm out and about because a) I'm usually parking in a secure place and b) it's lockdown, so I'm never out and about.

  31. In terms of insurance, I declared retrofitted Sat Nav, Cruise Control & Floor Mats (I know) to be on the safe side. They were only interested in the Sat Nav and said it might push it up a couple of quid on my next renewal but wont be much at all.

  33. You can do it but it's a lot of messing about for very little gain. Alternatively you can buy an EU tail lamp with the fog lamp on the other side. Mondeo Mk5 group, feel free to join for more answers and tips https://www.facebook.com/groups/693277794183606/?ref=share

  35. I retro fitted cruise control to my 2014 focus estate using the guide on here and Google. I purchased a steering wheel off ebay with the cruise control/speed limiter switch attached fir around £40, then I required an extra loom for my car which was about £15 off ebay too. Youll also need an old device to connect to a laptop and forscan software. If that's not the correct software someone will correct me as it was a while ago I did it. But when it's done it's great👍 Good luck

  36. Ford won't go near it. Retrofitting is more of a DIY job as you'll struggle to find a company willing to take on this work (costs them money and gives them a bad rep if it doesn't work). There's a guide here on how to do it. There's probably several more on the forum asking various questions so have a search (use Google with "site:www.fordownersclub.com" at the end of your search query. The search on the forum sucks imo).

  37. Thanks Loz, glad it’s sorted. Mine couldn’t be resolved and dealer didn’t know what he was doing so I’ve ended up returning the car after 4 months. Got stiffed on the deal as he wouldn’t refund me the full purchase price but after some negotiation I’ve managed to get enough to replace it with one 6 months newer and with 15k miles less so I’m happy. Picking it up today 👍

  40. I don't like getting sucked in to another enjoyable but expensive hobby which I'm now stopping before I lose my shirt 😂 I'll now explain; It all started with Amazon when I saw and purchased these shelving units which are designed to hold 80 Hotwheels vehicles in each unit. Yesterday; I thought id log on to a local buy & sell website to search for some nice vehicles; first found a candy red Impreza sti with gold wheels, then an S14 Silvia, followed by an orange MK2 escort and a British racing green Audi Quattro, 1989 Honda civic, honda S2000, lemans Mustang, MK2 golf, the list goes on and I kept purchasing to create rows of rally type, drift type, Street race etc. Didn't think it would have added up to £142 for 27 vehicles in original packaging from five different sellers 😂 which are going to be taken out of packaging and placed in to a six year olds room. I'm shocked at what Ive ended up spending on little toy cars, but there iconic models

  42. Fitted a second shelf for 1:64 Scale Hotwheels in our son's room today; some room left for future vehicles 160 spaces in total, Bought the shelf units on Amazon painted them up to match his mid Sleeper bed, they look good as decoration and prevents him tipping out a box full of cars on to the floor to find a particular model; can easily pick it from a shelf now.

  43. From what I hear, Halogen lights are rubbish on the MK5's...you'll be better off finding a car with the optional LED headlights which are bright and do all the beam forming stuff. (drove my friends MK5 and they're way better than my Xenon's in my MK4.5)
