Ford have officially unveiled the 2015 facelifted Focus:
http://www.mlive.com/auto/index.ssf/2014/02/photos_ford_unveils_2015_focus.html

Will add pics to this post when I'm at my PC but you can find them at the link above.

Still don't think it suits the Focus as well as the Mondeo and I can't help but still not like the cut and shut look of facelifts. Still it looks better than I feared that aston-esque look could have gone, though I can't help but feel it has gone almost a little generic looking, like the 308 or Cee'd

EDIT:

Lot's of pics here, and info about new tech/features, etc:

I think the back looks nicer, but still not that keen on the front. It suits the Mondeo/Fusion as that has always been seen as a more sophisticated car, the Focus (and Fiesta for that matter) is a hatch and I think the new look on it is a bit too grown up, too safe, too generic :(

I like my cars to wear the manufacturer badges proudly too, like the previous generations Focus.

Still a lot of people didn't like the look of the MK3 Focus, so maybe it will appeal to more this time which is no bad thing.

Looks a bit better in this shot, still think it has a bit of the Kia Cee'd about it though....

I quite liked the front and bonnet of the mk3 - this new style isn't terrible, but I prefer the mk3.

I get the feeling it might grow on me, and it probably wouldn't stop me buying one, but still something a little safe or dare I say boring about it?

It's not a bad looking car, but I really like the way Renault has gone with the Clio, or Honda did with the previous generation Civic, something almost concept car looking.

I guess that is best saved for the next "All New" Focus though, rather than a mid-life refresh/facelift.

Will be interesting to see how well they have improved the feel of the steering, as their PR seems to think they have made improvements.

That is my only complaint about the Focus, is that the steering can feel a little dead at times, its not as good as the Fiesta.

Will probably be at least 2 years before I get another car though, maybe 3 in which case I might wait for the MK4.

I love the look of this refresh. I remember thinking the front of the current Focus looked a little odd when it first came out, but that quickly grew on me & became the norm once more and more appeared on the roads. I've never liked the tail lights though as I always think how sad they look, or a little dopey even - hence me always preferring the Focus saloon, that was available on the mainland, in the US, and even Ireland! So I'm glad they've redesigned the tail lights on this refreshed hatch.

Glad the active park assist can now park you into bays too, as other manufactures other that, so Fords parallel-only system needed go to the next level to "keep its head in the game".

Also glad to see 'MyFord Touch' FINALLY arriving in Europe. Ford really needed to offer a full size touch screen as the current size of the optional satnav and infotainment screens is pretty pathetic in this day and age.

I like what we're seeing so far

I like it , looks a lot better style wise , and of course the new gadgets :) , the front end looks a little crisper but as Alex said does look a little safe , but add a ZS spoiler and some nice wheels and it will look totally different.

It will be interesting to see the 8" screen in Europe , but i have seen that they are dumping Microduff for another software base.

It certainly looks a lot tidier at the front and back, it's grown on me quite a bit over the course of today! I also like the look of the upgraded interior, plus the availability of a big touch screen now. Can't wait to see if they unveil a Zetec S version, I think that front end would look pretty mean with some well placed skirts. That Deep Impact Blue is a brilliant colour as well.

I work in the automotive press & PR business, and have read an official industry release this morning. Summarised as follows:

  • Design: Sleek, emotional new design with bold new face of Ford and a beautifully crafted cockpit-like interior. Slimmer, more chiselled front headlamps and more rectangular fog lamps add to the bolder front end. subtle chrome details add to the feeling of elegance while the rrear of the car also is sleeker with a new fascia and tailgate arrangment, as well as thinner tail lamps. The interior will feature a more intuitive layout, complemented by a steering wheel and centre stack with fewer buttons. The new centre console offers more space as well as a new, sliding intergrated armrest. The new adjustable console accomodates a variety of bottles and cups. New Focus also enjoys a quieter ride, achieved by thicker carpets, thicker window glass and improved engine bay insulation.
  • Touch screen control with SYNC 2: The new Focus will be the first vehicle in Europe to offer SYNC 2. This features a high-resolution, 8-inch colour touch screen and advanced voice control for easier access to audio, navigation, climate control and compatible mobile phones. It will offer a split screen display with 3D highway juntion and landmark views and a Michelin guide. Simply pushing the voice control button and saying "I'm hungry" will bring up a list of local restaurants, which you can then get directions to.
  • Advanced driving technology: Engineers have developed a more solid, responsive and connected to the road feel by increasing structural stiffness at the front, retuning shock-absorbers and incorporating a new ESP system. The Electronic Power Assisted Steering has also been retuned to make the driver feel even more connected. The new Focus is the first Ford to offer Perpendicular Parking, a new hands-free parking technology that helps drivers reverse into spaces alongside other cars. Cross Traffic Alert warns drivers reversing out of a parking space of approaching vehicles, while Park-Out Assist helps drivers by operating the steering wheel when pulling out of a parallel parking space. Active City Stop has also been enhanced to operate at speeds up to 50 km/h. A Pre-Collision Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control system also help drivers to remain safe at motorway speeds, while Ford's MyKey Technology will feature on the Focus for the first time.
  • Lighting the way: Improved Adaptive Front Lighting now adjusts the beams of the new Bi-Xenon HID headlamps to best suit the road layout. The system assesses the ambient light surrounding the vehicle, as well as objects in the road ahead anf adjusts the beam angle and intensity depending on speed, steering angle and distance to objects. Door edge protectors will also remain.
  • Fuel efficient engines: The new Focus offers significantly improved fuel efficiency thanks to new powertrain options. The Focus debut the new fuel efficient 1.5 litre Ecoboost (150PS and 180PS) petrol engine and also the new 1.5 TDCi (95PS and 120PS). The Focus will continue to be offered with the current 1.0 Ecoboost in both 100PS and 125PS variants. There will also be a new 99g/km CO2 1.0 litre Ecoboost, the first non-hybrid petrol car in Europe to offer sub-100g/km CO2 emissions.

Hope that provides a bit of useful info, was certainly interesting reading this morning :P

The big touchscreen might be interesting hopefully they have sorted out the issues the Americans have been having with my Ford touch. I can't help but feel the interior has gone a bit dull though. When the Focus Mk3 launched it looked really different, interior included, there is a lot of dull black plastic now, like in a golf or something. :(

I look forward to seeing the zetec s trim it really needs sporting up a bit IMO. Feels like ford has given in to making a safer more generic design.

Also surprised to see the 2L diesel as only a 150PS, would have thought they would just stick to the 163PS. Unless they are dropping the PSA engine, but that doesn't seem plausible for a refresh.

180PS from a 1.5L petrol should be interesting too.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not trying to poopoo everything it just feels like 2 steps forward one step back.

If you think back on each previous generation, there has always been a mixed opinion though. When the first MK3's hit the road, everyone hated the back end and the three split grille, but it remained one of Britain's best selling cars, so the qualities of the car (good to drive etc) must have won favour over looks. When the MK2 was released, it dulled down the dramatic angular styling of the original, but improved it's quality feel and driving dynamics and hence they are still common on the roads today. I'm sure even when the MK1 was released (I'm a bit too young to remember!), traditional Escort fans were sceptical of the Focus.

Each generation is a small evolutionary step, so hopefully seeing one in the metal will put any concerns at bay :)

Do we know when it will be out?

Dad might be interested when he gets rid of his current car in November

Cheers

They may well start taking orders at the end of this year, I imagine the UK will be one of the first with the size of the market for it here.

The front does't look too bad, Not a huge fan of the wrap around rear lights though..

I've always been a fan of older cars though, so i may be biased... :D

Done a bit of digging for anyone interested about the 150 PS 2.0 TDCi.

Seems PSA (Peugeot/Citroen) have brought out a new variant, the DW10D. The current focus uses the DW10B for the 140PS and the DW10C (what I have) for the 163PS.

Seems that the DW10D (150PS) has the same torque as the DW10C (163PS) at 340Nm, and the same 0-62 mph (based on the C4), and similar emissions, so I guess it is more a case of simplifying the 2.0 engine line up, by having one at 150PS which seems just as capable rather than a choice of two.

Mind you, they seem to be adding the 1.5 TDCi and more petrol engines, so in total there is still probably going to be more choice of engines!

Does anyone know if there are any current Ford's available in the UK in that colour? I want to see it in person if possible!

I'm pretty sure that is Deep Impact Blue, has been available since end of last year, so any 63 plate which is blue is likely to be that colour.

Do you mean the hatch in the dark? Deep Impact Blue or the estate which I dont know the name of?

The dark blue is Deep Impact Blue which is available in the Fiesta and current Focus (maybe more models too).

The lighter blue is something like Glacier Blue and AFAIK will be new to the facelift Focus.

According to autoexpress (take whatever they say with a pinch of salt) the facelift Focus is due to be released in July 2014. Whether that's true or not I don't know...

Although I recently changed back to a Fiesta from my Mk3 Focus ZS, I'll be interested to see what the facelift ZS will look like, maybe I could be tempted back into the Focus family....
