I'm waiting for you to finish yours before i decide on what to do with mine. might have to have a closer look at leemaxd's gauge pod...

i might get the st pod, strip out the gauges and custom fit an aftermarket parrot system to enable bluetooth haha

What a brilliant thread! Massive round of applause to all concerned ! How brave are you fella's taking a dremel to your 10 reg motors!

My focus is the titanium spec, so, there is a flip up panel with a shallowish cubby below for things like sunglasses, phone chargers etc, where the ST dial pod would sit...

I bought a dial pod last year, a 3 dial affair.... My thinking was to keep the flip up panel, and bond and smooth the pod on top of the panel, so i'd have ST type gauges, PLUS the convenience of the flip up panel and cubby below (which is pretty handy i must admit) But having read this thread, and eyeing things up, my original idea wouldn't have worked out too well as the top of the pod would sit too high upon the panel, as the gauges couldn't really have "sunk" like on the ST....

I'll now (thanks to you guys) adapt an ST pod shell, to house 2 plasma dial gauges

( I've fitted 2 gauges plus a plasma clock to my ford freda,see link below)



The dials have a nifty "boot up" sequence, and only cost about £18 each, and work pretty well... Hopefully i'll go for a volt gauge, and a boost gauge on my 2.0 TDCI focus... Like Lenny, the trick will be hardwiring in the boost gauge for an accurate reading.

I'll start gathering a few bits and bobs in the meantime, and keep a close eye on this thread for updates... Well done chaps! You're an inspiration!

Cheers bud! I'm getting there mate... I don't hink i have the patience to do the guides on here though, much as i'd like to help people out, i just KNOW i'd forget to take pictures as i go along, i get far too involved in what i'm doing to stop for a cig/cuppa/snap/wee!

chances are that one of us will copy you on the mods anyway as you have some great ideas and if its me,
im a non smoker so where you would be having a smoke ill be taking some pictures

not yet mate, sorry to say it will be around 14th March
i have to purchase
two gauge holders,
oil temp T piece,
electrical cable for oil sensor,
self sealing 1/6NPT adaptor for boost pipe,

should be able to complete it then mate. i was supposed to finish the gauges this month but i got the focus back on the road instead and decided to finish them next month instead, aswell as fitting a set of DRL's like pree's

its been a long time coming but im Very Happy to say,

this guide has been updated on page 1 of this thread and i have fitted the gauges in the pod today,

they are wired up and illuminating aswell as an ignition feed going to the oil pressiure gauge,
however i still require some fittings for the engine compartment to allow both gauges to function, i hope to have these purchased by thursday of next week and fitted in the coming weeks along with a set of DRL's which also require some routing through the firewall so i will route all through at the one time.







took it out for a run earlier, purposly drove on a cobble street road to test for any jumping in the pod or rattles, and im very proud to say not a budge or rattle from anything. very happy with the outcome.
