ChrisH
I am going to fit an Aux connector to my car, as we are sick of having to burn CDs to get different music, and we have an MP3 player, so it would be ideal. I dont see the fitting being an issue, I dont think I have the wire there already. My issues are which is the best cable kit to get. The ford genuine, or the ones on E-Bay that end in a 3.5mm jack plug? The ford offering seems a faff to be honest, drilling bits out of the glovebox, and seems an odd place to have it, and people have said its not the most stable of fitments. I can see areas where I can feed the cable out of the underside of the heater controls, there seems to be 2 areas where the power socket is if you pull out the rubber mat thingie. Also would it come through the grill that is where the heated screen buttons are? I would like to make it look a bit neater though... I have seen through searches here this on E-Bay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Refitting-CD-DVD-Players-USB-interface-modification-Panel-For-Ford-Focus-05-08-B-/231264733089?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35d873c7a1 Im not fussed about the USB but it appears to have a socket for a stereo jack plug, and has a socket on the other side. Would this work??? I suppose I could but the plug off and solder the connections to a stereo plug socket, and drill a small hole in one of the blanking plates. Can anyone offer advice, or piccies of how they have done it.
ChrisH
On reflection will probably go with the one that has a jack plug on the end. Seems alot easier. If I could be cheeky I have read stonys posts on this and would be grateful if you could tell me the best place to route through. I have contacted the seller regards the blank plates. There are no guides on the forum for this. When I do it will prob take some photos. How do I do a guide?
.Martin
I tucked mine down through the centre console, along the side of the tunnel (tucked under the console) and brought it out beside my seat belt latch as my phone sits in the cup holders :)
Stoney871
I did originally have my cable coming down from behind the demister switches but after doing my centre console upgrade it's now extended back into the armrest storage tray. Personally I reckon the cables with a 3.5 on the end are better whereas the dtandard Ford sockets need drilling in and the alignment of the contacrs in relation to the socket body do cause problems if the socket doesn't clip together tightly enough. ChrisH
Thanks for the replys. Have you got a picture of your wire coming through the blanking plate? When I get an answer from the eBay chap I will post back
