Kuga oil quality fault

Hi 

 

I have a 2008 Ford Kuga 2.0 litre diesel and have ongoing oil quality issues. The car has had a new DPF, Catalitic converter, EGR valve and sensors for the DPF. It has had 4 oil changes in the last 6 months as it keeps coming up with an engine malfunction fault on the dash and the fault on the diagnostic computer says ‘oil quality degradtion’. It has been to the local ford dealer for software updates 3 months ago and the last oil change lasted 2 months, Ford oil and filter was used.  Has any one else had this problem and how has it been resolved. Can’t keep changing the oil whenever it brings up this fault.

Stupid Modern cars with ridiculous sensors that do nothing but get in the way. The amount of engines that have failed due to actual oil degradation (excluding missed services) is so ridiculously small that Ford have fixed a problem that wasn't there in the first place. I bet the sensors cause more faults than they've fixed lol.

I'm guessing that the sensor(s) that detect the viscosity of the oil or whatever they do are bad. Have you run a diagnostic yourself, preferably with Forscan? It should give you a code, especially if it's come up with engine malfunction. I'm not sure if Ford would tell you as they want you to pay them to fix it.

Just as a side note, I take it as soon as you've serviced it you've reset the service light? If you don't then the message will appear a few days or so later.

Also as a reference, how many miles do you do? And what type of driving (mainly motorway or around town etc.)?

Could be diesel contamination.  Sensors might be just dandy.

Had same problems , heard a old trick im not belived on but i tryed .

Take the poles of the batterie a few min.!! , then you take the + and - poles and hold them together  minimum 10sec.   Thats it👍 .
