Zetec S Bodykit

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm interested in getting my Ford Focus looking like the Zetec S but I'm not sure where to buy the parts from. Appreciate it if anyone can help. Ford Focus Mk3 2013.

Cheers

Joel

If it's a rough and ready copy kit, the body shop will drill holes and use Tiger seal to fit. The longevity of it will be disappointing. I have experience of cheap kits, and proper branded ones, the p

Ford don't bother colour matching at the factory anyway...the shade of the plastics are well off those on the metal panels on the Mk3s!    It's one of those things that once you've noticed it, you won

Try eBay, breakers yards, or new from Ford.

Here's one on eBay

That one looks like it would need a bit of attention from a decent body shop prior to painting though.

i emailed them and they werent sure, "We are unable to advise on retro-fitting items, only original equipment parts. However, we can't see an immediate reason as to why this would not fit."

That's their, 'get out of jail free' card! Personally, I wouldn't buy from a seller who doesn't really know what they're selling...

they know nothing 🙂

Done a bit of searching about and it seems I've found the right parts. I don't think the prices are too steep for the rear bumper and skirt or the spoiler, at least they are genuine OEM Ford kit.

The front spoiler and lip though, that's a bit pricey. I might buy that second hand. Does this look like the right kit ? I'm not too bothered about the side skirts for the time being, I don't really see much difference between them and the standard ones.

Does this look about right for what I'd need?... How much do you think a bodyshop would cost for painting and fitting the parts ?1213062148_ZetecS.thumb.jpg.1b9aba1c182a07c279bf0c05802a8536.jpg

Looks good to me, I managed to get a kit for my old Focus MK3 from someone selling on this forum, you'd be better buying them second hand in any colour and getting them all sprayed at a bodyshop will work out cheaper still. To get all them parts sprayed to a excellent standard I would say around the £700 mark.

Thanks, thing is though from what ive seen on ebay, apart from the front spoiler skirt, the rear bumpers all look a bit scuffed and marked up, I really need them looking mint, if I buy second hand and they're generally a bit scuffed and have marks on won't they need prepping first which will add to teh cost?

Cheers. Have found these but the prices seem too good to be true?

can find the rear diffuser second hand, there's a few in decent condition for good prices, but cant find a rear Zetec S bumper second hand.

am i right in thinking the front spoiler just clips onto the existing bumper I have or is my existing bumper a different design to the Zetec S front bumper?

Just rang my local Ford dealer which has a bodyshop asking them if they'd be able to fit. They won't fit them for me as it's not something they want to get involved with as the "parts aren't made for my car, nothing will line up and it would require loads of new holes drilling etc."

How the heck do you guys who've had yours modded get it done lol?

The woman I spoke to didnt sound pleasant at all. Really abrupt.

The quality of those will be rubbish, they aren't genuine parts, hence the price.

Ford won't be interested in modifications, you'd have to ask an independent bodyshop to do the work.

Thanks. Would an independent body shop need to drill holes etc. if I buy genuine parts?

I can tell you the parts that are from that company are rubbish and suffer quite bad from cracking after about 12 months due to heat cycles e.g. weather going hot then cold. Genuine parts require no extra holes as all the holes are already in the correct place and simply connect to your car, the whole process for me only took around 1 hour 30 mins. Side skirts can be a bit fiddly but still pretty easy, I'd recommend a flat head screw driver with a cloth wrapped around the tip to avoid scratches when removing all the old clips

EDIT:

Top tip maybe a plastic trim removal tool would be a better idea than the flat head screw driver.

If it's a rough and ready copy kit, the body shop will drill holes and use Tiger seal to fit. The longevity of it will be disappointing. I have experience of cheap kits, and proper branded ones, the proper branded ones are expensive for a reason. My Celica GT4 has a genuine Varis body kit which was almost £2000 when new, However, after 20+ years on the car, it looks as good as the day it was fitted

Cheers, so if I get the parts painted and prepped it should be fairly easy to install them myself? I'm no DIY expert but I am a dab hand with building and fixing computers so I know how to use a screwdriver heh. If it doesn't involve any drilling for the new parts do any requite gluing ? I'm not great with gluing stuff.

I'm same as you spent years building computers and believe me this is a lot easier than hooking up the I/O to your motherboard the first time round. With genuine parts no glue or tape is needed at all sits very nicely, I'd happily come and help you fit them if you lived some place close ish

Thanks. I think I've got a better understanding now, the rear spoiler looks quite straight forward seen some youtube videos of fitting instructions. The rear bumper and diffuser also I could probably do myself... just not sure about the front - is the Zetec S bumper itself different to the standard Focus bumper? ie. would I have to buy the Zetec S bumper as well as the front spoiler or does the front spoiler fit onto my existing bumper and I'd just need to buy the honeycomb grilles?

To fit spoiler its p&p

front and back its only extension , requiring removing matt piece ,

im sure you can do it yourself for sure

The front is just a splitter underneath your bumper is a black piece of plastic trim going pretty much the full length of your bumper, the bumpers are the exact same it's just a splitter that is added on

Think I'll fit them one by one with the front first, cheapest i can find is £170 at the moment which isnt far off brand new price at £250.

I don't know anything about bodyshop prices - if I buy a second hand one with marks and scratches / dents etc. that'll add to the cost on top of painting wont it? Compared to if I gave a bodyshop a brand new one and all they had to do is paint it?

Meaning if I can't find cheaper than £170 second hand I may as well go for the brand new one?
