Yes it's quite a fun thing to drive!😀 Just had an enjoyable drive over the North York Moors to Whitby for a couple of days at the seaside, and I had a heck of a job trying to stay under the limit.

Nice, do you have any idea what an adaptive shutter is, noticed it listed on the spec sheet for my car, no idea what it is, well I gather its some kind of air flow system but unsure what the benefits are, also is it standard feature across the fiesta range.

It's like a motorised venetian blind that sits in front of the radiator/intercooler and opens to increase cooling, or closes to decrease drag, depending on speed, load, temps, etc.

If you start the engine, then quickly look through the front grille, you usually see it fully opening and closing during self-test. (Presumably to ensure no faults or anything blocking the slats)

On etis, it's listed as Kysor Radiator Shutter.

Cool, another thing to go wrong😂 , is it standard on all fiestas?

They were also on mk3 Focus so been around 10 years now, not particularly new anymore!

They don't tend to go wrong over here tbh, there were issues with them in cold places with ice and snow though.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just excited to get my car 😉

What exactly is LED night signature rear lights?

Is basically rear LED lights, I noticed when the fiesta was unlocked the rear lights came on.

You should really start your own thread  Steve.   This one is about the tyre gunk the Ford supply.

Been trying to find the answer to this one.So the sound system still works ok minus the sub-woofer, just with less bass?

Yep, we're not massively bothered about the niceties of the hi-fi. The spare goes in the wheelwell and the sub woofer stands on its side in an old cardboard box. If we need the whole boot then we unplug the speaker and leave it at home.

Hi

This is my thread but I am going off topic, not to worry, I will likely create a new thread in the coming days with tons of questions once I have my car😄

Thanks for that, Janet.😀

Yeah it's the swoop and uptick of the rear lights I believe.  I have it on mine. Only us cool kids have em 😉

I hate the gunk kit for one reason - no tyre shop wants to repair a tyre that’s had the gunk used on it. So you’re left looking for a new tyre. Depending on the wear on the tyres, i usually replace the tyres together on the same axle so that’s now 2 tyres. If running premium tyres, you’re looking at more than £200 simply because of a puncture that should cost £10-£20 to repair if you have a spare tyre.
For the MK8, I bought the original alloy and a used tyre that fit, same size as the spare tyre spec. Cost about £50-60 altogether and it’s the best cash I’ve spent despite not having to use it yet.

Best of both worlds is to leave the sub in and put a spare in the boot, or your nice long trip has a lesser music experience, which is when I'd want to listen the most.

Been having a think, and I might get a spare wheel once I have my car, I think I would prefer to have a spare alloy wheel and tyre rather than a space saver.

My fiesta has 18" alloys, I checked ford parts and the alloy is around £165, so plus a tyre thats roughly £265 I guess.

Would I get a full sized alloy in the boot with some space still?

At a later date I might even attempt removing the subwoofer, would the 18" wheel fit in the space?

Cheers

It'll fit but be too tall, you'll lose a few inches of boot height as the carpet sits higher.

Each to their own but I don't have any issue with space savers personally, don't want to carry around a heavy alloy everywhere and reduce what is already a tiny boot lol.  As long as you keep below 50mph on it, space savers are fine.

I was just thinking it might better to have a like for like spare, that way if I damage an alloy or tyre I can swap it around and take just the damaged alloy to a garage to be fixed.

I agree about boot space and extra weight though, perhaps a space saver would be a wiser choice.

Actually can you even get a space saver for the fiesta with 18" alloys? seen some space savers 15" but it states only fits cars up to 17" wheels.

We went for a bog-standard 15" steel wheel with a high profile tyre. That way the boot-carpet sits flat.

OK, it isn't a perfect match for the 18" alloys but it is infinitely better than the gunk and preferable to a space-saver.

There is a 15" mini spare with 175/65 tyre in the price list as an option on ST-3 which has 18" wheels. Not listed for anything else with 18" as (if I read the list correctly) all other versions with 18" as standard come with a subwoofer, so it's a case of sorting out a spare yourself as Janet and others have done.

Might check that out then, I don’t really want to take the sub out.

The spacesaver would not take as much room up either in the boot, unsure on the weight guess it must be lighter than a full size alloy wheel.
