Hi! We recently installed BLIS to my friend's MK4 in Turkey. There is no-pre wiring. Unlike the MK3, Mk4 has BLIS radar brackets were installed on the bumper already. He bought radar sensors and the the mirror glasses with BLIS LED's. However buying the complete mirror with BLIS is much better because connector is already equipped with LED terminals, imao.

After installation and wiring, SODR, SODL, PDM, DDM and IPC needs to be reprogrammed correctly.

Please note that in Turkey we have LHD cars. So part numbers may be different.

You mentioned there’s no pre-wiring - did the focus you did it on have the camera B&O play? Hoping as my car has these may have the wiring in place all ready just need to get round to removing the bumper.

On that subject was getting the rear bumper off pretty straight forward?

YW. 

Yes, the car has B&O and camera. I’m not sure about equipment differences between countries but dont have any hope about extra wiring.

As for rear bumper, sadly I’m not with him while removing the bumper. But It should be similar with Mk3. May be you can find videos on Youtube. I will share the service procedure of bumper removal, if i can find it.

@simps100 I have not disassembled the rear bumper, it is possible to look inside on one side. For my part, I have a model with the left hand drive, so at the rear exhaust side, you can see the interior of the rear bumper. In the photo, you can see that there are only two sensors (one on the side then the rear side). Normally the BLIS sensor is in between?

In MK4 BLIS radars are mounted to back of the car, not on to the bumper.

I checked below, but it is very complicated to have a visual on the lower part of the rear light.

However, maybe you can help me, is the BLIS wiring going underneath with the sensors? In the photo, it looks like the cable is coming from the top (in yellow).

It's been a while I don't remember exactly but It should be yellow one.

I have the impression that the Parking Pack includes the BLIS but it is disabled if you do not take the option. Moreover, Ford today integrates BLIS in on Pack Parking. For my part, I have sensors on the sides because I have this Pack. You can see the difference with the two pictures.

Hmm mine also has the sensors on the side like the top image - although I don’t think the BLIS sensors have anything external like that but maybe wrong.

Just researching the parts needed for this - have come across some MK4 wing mirrors with BLIS built in - is there any way of telling from the pins in these wing mirrors also have the folding motor and heating element as don’t want to lose them! Thank you!

Just bumping this if anyone has a way to tell if this wing mirror features the heated element and folding mirror by the pins before I buy a couple - I know they definitely have the BLIS light!

I'm not 100% sure but if you've got BLIS mirror units they'll have the heating and folding, can't believe you can have BLIS without the other two!

This was sort of my thinking that if the car had BLIS as an option it likely had the other 2 but wanted to be certain before buying but think will go for It! Cheers

No, but it gives you an advantage over not having it. I still check my mirrors and turn my head before changing lanes but I find that I see that little orange light before my eyes have had time to focus on the mirror.

It is a bit like wearing Glasses, if you are blind then they are completely useless, but if you are sighted they can make you see better.

I totally understand ... if BLIS was "thrown in" as part of a package I'd use it and probably appreciate having it ... I just don't think I'd expend effort or money fitting it post-purchase.  Whatever, we're all different!

So almost a year on have started looking at this again - I finally got round to taking off the rear bumper, I can’t see the cables for the sensors I bought anywhere - also interestingly compared to the picture above of the BLIS sensors it seems my brackets are the other way round?

I did hunt around where I could for the wires but no luck unless anyone else knows where they maybe hiding?

if they are not there think will buy the cables below to be safe - and then will need to find where the other end goes!

We need to talk :) I've got the same loom on the way and some radar modules. If you don't have the correct plug in the rear for the loom it looks like you just connect it to the CAN +/- with the kit provided.

When all my stuff arrives I'll pick up a removable Witter towbar and do it all in one go.

I managed to get the loom and sensors for around £300. Sensors are coming from Poland but are the JX7T-14C689-AE ones.

Ive done some research and for anyone wondering, both modules should be the same, the left and right are determined by using grounding pins in the loom.

Hoping all goes well the brackets are going to already be there and I will just need to screw the radar modules in, run the loom and connect the CAN +/-, ground and drop the tail into the fusebox.

If all this works and everything shows up in forscan I'll get some mirrors ordered. I'll need some help with forscan, I can do the simple stuff but I'll need a copy of the as built from someone else's car. I actually have a VIN from another ST which had BLIS. Oh and changing the VIN on the modules? (If that's a thing) 

The last part I'm stuck on is the mirrors actually. Do I need to do anything with the wiring in the door if I just order some folding/heated/blis mirrors? They are already folding/heated currently.

Anyway, it should total out at less than £500 including new mirrors. 

Im going to swap out my dash too for one with the brackets for the HUD (heads up). I've already ordered a HUD I got on a deal (£120). I'm currently torn between getting another st-line dash and getting the fancy leather dash. But that's for another topic and another day :)

If I can get all this done I will have a fully loaded ST. Only thing missing would be new digital clocks but I'm going to wait a bit as I'm confident they will start to show up soon on eBay from ford breakers.

 

Hi all

So this is all turning into a bit of a minefield but I guess that was to be expected!

My main focus so far is on the modules and wiring for them - will worry about the mirrors when I know I’ve got the radars in and working!

Was advised the radars JC3T-14C689-AC would be ok for the MK4 focus so have bought a couple of these - I’ve also bought this harness which come from China (admittedly am new to mods especially like this so bought the harness to hopefully make it all abit easier!)

Sadly looks like the harness I’ve bought is no good for the sensors - the plastic channels don’t line up properly, my radars are off set to each other whilst the harness I have the 2 plastic channels are in line.

Not going to give up yet so just wanted to see if anyone else has done this and with what parts.

I am hoping the bits I have already purchased will be of some use still - am on the hunt to see if I can change the plugs to some which fit my radar on the end of the harness I bought - does anyone know the part number for the plugs which would fit the radar?

And if anyone more experienced in all this is based near me in Surrey would be more than willing to pay for your time in helping get this done being so new to it!

Thanks for your help, i have been fitted on my Focus MK4 01/2022 the rear sensors (SODL/SODL) , do the correct wiring, install new mirrors with BLISS LED.

Now i'm on coding step, and i need help 🙂

First when i select Bliss into DDM and PDM nothing work, i have to restore ASBUILT previously saved , 

Next , i can not change VIN in SODL/SODR, Forscan not allow me in normal coding, i think i have to do in asbuilt format but how can i do this ?

I will be really grateful for your help.

Not sure how far you got with your install and these sensors but you can shave the slide lugs off the side of the sensors so that the Molex connector moves further onto the sensor, the top clip will still act as a securing measure to stop any unwanted movement. see attached images.

 

 

The only other alternative would be to change the Molex connector with another with matching slide lugs - which can easily be found on AliExpress. One thing to check is that the cable to the sensors via the connectors should be 22AWG 0.35mm twisted pair for the CAN high & CAN low.  The power and ground cable/s look fine and straight forward. Not sure what the OBD connector wire is for unless that's for alternative powering.

 

Im currently at the hardware gathering stage and making my own harnesses, got my 2x Focus JX7T-14C689-CE sensors and using a Puma L1TT-14A411-ABB loom to go from the sensors to inside the car, it needed a little modification also to the sliding lugs on the sensor Molex connectors but does the job. Then just to run Power to the fusebox tap in and ground to the pillars.

 

The only thing Im unsure on is where to run my CAN high + & CAN low so any help there appreciated. Then I can move onto the FORSCAN programming stage as I have already installed the 10 pin Fully electric, folding, heated BLiS & puddle lamp mirrors which were a simple plug and play as the wiring was already present in the front doors. I see on yours @simps100 you have the Active Park Assist on yours to tap into.
