MHEV 48v Battery Cover FSA

Featured Replies

Just checking my Focus build date on ETIS for another thread and saw an outstanding FSA for the hybrid battery cover.  Haven't heard anything about this one.  Anyone know what the actual fault is?

  • My guess would be the original electron containment shield was defective in discharging its duties and was allowing the escape of said electrons via a posterior when suitably compressed by a large loa

Haven't seen any more info on this so far...but it looks like dealers are having to hold back new cars for it, in Germany at least.  Just a heads up for anyone currently waiting on an MHEV.  (Google translate the site.)

Any updates on this? My dealer (Trust Ford) has one on order even though I was in the dealership today for the convenience  check.

why they couldn’t get one in knowing I was bring the car in is beyond me. I was then told that even if they had one in stock they couldn’t fit because their internet was down!

how does the internet fit a battery cover. ?

I gave up complaining and will have to go back.

Honest answer is it won't be my problem so haven't looked any further.  I'd still be interested to hear the outcome though!

I guess they need internet to confirm a warranty repair through the IDS system.

Just checked the German forum but there's no update there either...  Their new cars are still being held back for this it seems.

I’m guessing no one on this forum has had the update.

sounds like I’ll be waiting along time for the dealer to get the part!

Looks like it's just us 2 that have even bothered to check...the MHEVs aren't that uncommon lol!

Have you been notified through the FordPass app btw?  I haven't.  Mine has been in Deep Sleep since Jan and I'm not sure if the car gets the notifications and passes them to the app, or whether they're sent straight to the app.

Didn’t realise it appeared on FORDPASS app?

I picked up the recall from Etits.

I've read about other recalls being shown on the FordPass app.

This recall has disappeared from ETIS?

Is this Ford covering its back as the replacement covers are unavailable?

Bump….

has anyone had this done or knows what the issue is?

No news is good news, as the saying goes.

But there is no news. Still the same.

How can they list a recall without having a part to repair it?

It's a vehicle hold recall. ( Identified an issue)  until a part can be designed and manufactured, tested then released.

Ah, I see.  That makes sense.  Do they say what the fault is with the current part?

Nope.

I had purchased a 70 plate mHEV second-hand from SMC Slough (Allen Ford). Had no end of trouble, and eventually complained to Ford and DVSA. SMC couldn't do anything as it was Ford telling dealers that cars with the issue couldn't be sold. SMC weren't aware of it until I pointed it out to them from the ETIS page. I wasn't happy as I couldn't see how they were still advertising mHEV's for sale - knowing that they wouldn't be able to supply the vehicle until the issue was sorted.

In the end, I pulled out of the Sale (and got £100 Amazon voucher from Ford CS for all the hassle). Bought 182hp 19 plate Vignale instead!

DVSA eventually got back to me (about three weeks after I cancelled order lol) and their response (dated 28/03/21) was "We have been in contact with the manufacture and they have explained that this vehicle requires a battery cover, however this is not a recall and will be undertaken as a service action. The vehicle were on hold until Ford clarified the severity of the issue but I have been informed that this risk assessment has now been completed and all vehicles have been released."

Make of that what you will.
